Dose Adjustment? Also, can anyone convert SS?

Welcome. I’ll tag some people that can help with the spreadsheet. @Chris & China (GA) @Marje and Gracie

I was able to get a quick look at your spreadsheet before it disappeared. We use two different dosing methods here so please have a look at the yellow sticky on dosing and see which you think you might want to follow. If feeding any dry food you would follow SLGS. Otherwise you definitely test enough to follow TR. You can of course change methods at any time.

I looked again and think you can go up to 1.25 safely.

Thank you SO MUCH @tiffmaxee ! We do not feed dry food, so TR it is. We will shoot 1.25 tonight and hold while we test that for a bit and see how he looks. His vet prescribed 3 units of Lantus x 2 initially, just FYI.

Well the starting dose would actually have been 2 units. So don’t be surprised if you will need to adjust upwards.

I have been reading tons of stickies! Also, I did the calculations initially based on ideal weight and saw the 2u as well...just wanted to ease into it, but I feel we need to work towards a more aggressive dose.

If you are planning on following TR, you must start testing at least once during the PM cycle. I'd strongly encourage you to get a test every night before you go to bed -- the infamous "before bed" test. Without the PM tests, you are missing half of your data and you can easily miss a dose reduction.

I have heard great things about this message board with respect to assistance with dose adjustments from the FB group. I have the FB spreadsheet, but can't seem to convert to the one used here. Can someone give me and Zed a hand?

Hi Bree

I can convert it but need some info if you can send me a private message. Just click on Marje and Gracie to the left and then “start a conversation”. Thanks for letting us help you get our SS up and running.

I’d also suggest changing your user ID to hide your last name and maintain privacy, you’ll see many have their cat’s name and their first name. To change your user ID, click on it in the upper right corner, then click on “personal details” and it’s the last item on the bottom.
