So today I gave my cat his insulin for the first time ever. We have been testing him and these are the results so far:

    Pre: 263
    +2: 233
    +4: 250

Is it normal that the number has gone up instead of down? We gave him 0.5u to start with.

Sorry nobody has gotten back to you sooner!

Yes, it's normal.....with Lantus, it takes 5-7 days before you'll see the true results from the dose. It takes that much time to establish the "depot"

Here's some information that helps explain the depot

Some cats react quickly to their first dose, but mostly, it takes those 5-7 days before you get a true idea of how well that dose is going to work.

Congrats on getting a curve so quickly! I’ve been at it for nearly a month, and today was the closest I’ve gotten to getting a curve. You are doing great!
