Fur loss...

    Guys, Chunky is losing the fur on his shoulders... I'm going to call the vet tomorrow, will report back

    Our non diabetic cat has lost fur there too. Mostly from scratching it. No fleas. He is just an anxious kind of cat. Plus he has had flea treatments on his shoulder - so that could contribute to it.

    Good to know. None of my cats have lost fur before, so it was rather alarming.

    Do you do your insulin injections in that area? If so, maybe some sort of sensitivity reaction? Is he itchy there?

    Fur loss in that area may be due to allergy - possibily food-related. Ask your vet about this.

    I usually inject him on the hip, but now I have different needles and above the shoulders work better. He's going in for a curve on Friday, so I'll ask the vet then. I'm hoping it's just stress

    mr b historicallly loses fur usually around his eyes and ears if he starts eating chicken. maybe its an allergy for chunky too?
