...but NOT new to having a diabetic cat. Our T.D. Cat has been on Lantus for three years ( well on February 3rd it was 3 years ) . Just pleased to find I'm not the only person around who chose to deal with the condition instead of the alternative. We "inherited" Tiny D. Cat who we had seen roaming our area for years; he would stop by 3 or 4 times a week and sit at our back door loudly demanding to be fed. All the yards here have walls; cats here all learn to climb them and use the tops of walls as a fast means of going from yard to yard. Tiny had disappeared for approx. 2 months ( three years ago ), so we presumed the worst for the huge, castrated tom. One late afternoon, he was back, looking skinny and ragged . We took him in, fed him, gave him water ( drank it ALL ). Kept him isolated overnight in our "spare" room. In the morning the cat box litter was DRENCHED. Told my wife to go buy a meter ( we are both medical people ). Meter just said "HIGH"To the Vet ASAP after a quick call. With that, he became our Most Expensive Housecat. He was in deep trouble, and he came to OUR yard. Just trying to give him all the time he can have, in a real home.
