Help! I was preoccupied. I usually fill the syringe with too much and reduce to Simba's doseage. And he snuck into his sister's higher carb food before I did that. And I pulled him away and injected him. My guess is it was at least 6ml and his dose is 2ml.

I just tested his blood glucose that is at 97. And I had him eat higher carb food. do I just keep watching him or get proactive and go straight to Karo syrup now?

I'd put 911 on this til you get some experienced people to reply....

I would suggest putting the 911 symbol before the title of this post so that it gets attention. Also, post in the Lantus forum as well. I'm really not experienced enough to know what to tell you to do. But keep testing his blood glucose level, and be prepared with high carb food and Karo syrup. Hopefully, somebody else will be able to hop on who has had more experience.

Thank you! I wasn't sure if this warranted 911 or not. Trying to link it to the Lantus forum...

Once you get somebody who can help you a little, they may suggest that you remove it. But I think it's important for you to get somebody a little more experienced, and the 911 will get somebody's attention.

When did you last test him? I strongly encourage you to post on the Lantus Forum, as it looks like there is some activity there right now. Someone needs to see this who's familiar with Lantus.

Is the higher carb food wet food? That should help cause it will help her longer than the syrup will..

How much medium or high carb wet food do you have on hand?

Do you have plenty of test strips?

Do you have an ER near you?

That's a pretty big drop, so keep feeding whatever you have that's high carb and keep testing...I'd test in 20-30 minutes

15% carb and he ate most of a can

Do you have any Fancy Feast Gravy Lovers? Be careful....if he eats too much he won't want to eat later and you're going to probably need to keep him eating most of the night. With the Gravy Lovers, you can pop the top, put it back and squeeze the gravy into another bowl. The gravy is where most of the carbs are.

I really think you're best course of action is to get him to a vet as soon as possible

The effects of an overdose can last longer than just this cycle. You will need to be vigilant tomorrow as well.

Any update?

He's up to 89. But I will keep checking and make sure to keep an eye on him tomorrow.
Thanks!
