Human meter suggestions

Looking for suggestions for human meters. Best meter with inexpensive strips. All suggestions welcome!

 

Meters are free in Canada. For a cat you just tell a fib, no ID required. I was looking for a meter that required a very small blood sample and got the Aviva Accu-Chek. It comes with a great manual, a travel pouch and a mini travel meter. The batteries are available everywhere (it comes with one) and the memory function goes back almost a year, keeps accurate time and will show 3 and 5 day averages but averages are useless in this case. It does not have an alarm. You can put the strip halfway in, get your blood sample and then push the strip all the way in which turns the meter on. That worked for me because the meter will turn itself off after 30 seconds, not very convenient if your cat doesn't feel like cooperating that day.
