Thanks everyone for the support! This is rough.

Tomorrow's AM shot... under 200 don't shoot right? Above 200 maybe cut dose in half for now? Or even less?

Cherish, Angel has earned a 0.25U reduction, since she dropped below 50.

Under 200, don't shoot, yes. In the morning, I suggest you post her AMPS and ask for dosing advice.

So as long as her BG is above 200 she should now be on 3.75U Instead of 4?

Okay, just make sure you'll hear it. There is a very good chance her bg could drop again, once the gravy and honey wear off.
    Yes.

I don't think the guideline on "earned reductions" applies the same way with Vetsulin as it does in the Lantus protocols. A dose reduction is in order but it's a judgment call on the part of the owner based on knowledge/experience. Posting here tomorrow AM is the way to go.

I spent a long time in ProZinc Land where I learned this method of dosing. Vetsulin is similar. ;)

Squallie was on Vetsulin for almost a year, but I've fallen into the Lantus mind-set now, I guess. It took me a very long time to think with a "Lantus mentality", I know that much, lol!

Great! Test again in another 30 minutes to see if she is still rising. If she is, you can test again in an hour and, if she's still rising, you can probably call it a night. You want to give her about two hours of rising numbers, uninfluenced by food, to make sure she's going to stay safe. :)

will post the next test, if it is a good number should we just let her finish the last tablespoon or two of gravy and let her rest?

If her numbers are good, you don't need to give her the gravy. And yes, you can all rest! :)

Okay, she's dropping again, so you will need to keep testing. You can give her a tsp or so of low carb food and then I would test her again in 20 minutes, if she's still dropping then, give her some more gravy.

For future reference, it would have been a better idea to just give her some LC food this last time, rather than the gravy. Her numbers now are reflecting the temporary rise from the extra carbs, and you don't know whether or not her numbers will begin to drop again once the carbs war off. Hopefully she will not drop too much now since it is 7 or more hours since her shot.

ETA: If one of you is awake in an hour or so please test her, just to make sure she is still in safe numbers!:)

I see that you gave 3.5 u this AM. The pink pre shot isn't surprising after all the action last night. Try to get a test or two in sometime today even if it's not mid cycle. The more data you have, the better we can help you with dosing.

Was 3.5 the right call or should I have gone lower?

She'll probably be OK and getting a test at +4 will be good data. Will your BF be able to test after +4 if needed?

After low numbers they can be more insulin sensitive for a time so extra vigilance is important. Knowing how much to drop a dose after an episode like last night's is based on experience rather than a definite "recipe". You have to consider the heightened sensitivity, whether you can monitor around mid cycle, knowledge of Angel's responses, etc. You're in the very early stages of amassing data to build your knowledge. When in doubt, post here for advice and if you don't get quick feedback, err on the side of too low a dose (eg. 50% of what you've been giving could be a general guideline).
