hi lily is 10, diabetic one year on lantus 1 unit once a day. Not doing well ,still peeing a lot,hungry all day he time. Found a curve today. So far pre shot was 470 ate food ff can hadn’t insulin. .every 2 hour numbers so far are 309,302,302,397 at recent test. What should I do ? Please
 
An unregulated diabetic cat will have all the peeing and hunger because their cells are not getting what they need. There are several "stickies" on the lantus forum that will give you tons of information about what you need to do. Starting a spreadsheet we all can view to help you help your furbaby. It sounds like lily is not receiving enough insulin and they suggest increases in .25 increments. You are not alone here and please ask as many questions as you need to. There are 2 different regiments they follow. They are in the stickies as well. Welcome to the best place you never wanted to be. Welcome to you and your furbaby. Take deep breaths, it helps.
 
Please read the sticky on the protocols used here. Lantus once a day does not work for most cats. I know your situation makes twice dosing difficult. Maybe a different insulin would work better for you.
 
I agree she needs more and I will do everyth8ng I can to help her. She is such a good friend to me. I don’t understand the sticky’s? What are they? I cannot thank you enough. I have a wonderful veterinarian. She is waiting for this curve to be finished. I know she will help too.
