...simply random ideas...while thinking about diabetes all of the time...

I'd noticed a pattern with Maji, whenever I got her out in the sunshine outside laying on our deck (we're in WA state, so our sun right now when out is mild compared to other states) that being said, when she laid out in the sunshine on the deck she would get warm and then begin grooming incessantly. Over and over...it was nice being out there with her, she'd be out there maybe an hour. Sometimes we would play chase or "string" (I would get exhausted and she would - hence EXERCISE).

Those times on her SS were the best numbers sometimes coming down from 150-140 to under 100 with no insulin. However I noticed a correlation and decided to do some looking up.

Apparently cats manufacturer Vitamin D3 in ultraviolet light and then lick their coats to absorb this D3. D3 not being available through their diet unless supplemented. here -> http://antranik.org/the-offbeat-reason-why-cats-and-dogs-lay-in-the-sun-and-lick-their-fur/

So that led me to this article here -> http://www.catcurious.com/health:do-cats-need-vitamin-c

Which then led me to researching supplementation with vitamin C which of course led me to find out it could cause 'stones' which is a no-no (depending on the cat of course much more dangerous in males than females still a worry non-the-less)

Which then led me to this attached picture from the 'Natural Health Bible Dogs and Cats' which had this small bit of information attached below - from it.
And I thought HEY I can do that and grow Barley grass instead of wheat grass for Maji and possibly help her diet diabetes etc.
So now on amazon and found
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00D3NI72Y/ref=ox_sc_act_title_2?smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER&psc=1 AND then found this also below, it's hard to find Barley seeds
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B014K1UKK4/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?smid=A1OARPXRVNM45T&psc=1 So I may decide to experiment here and try to add a natural vitamin C this way

Funny thing happened this morning: Maji will get tested this evening btw. I finally got around to testing mine and hubbys blood using the freestyle light and lanset tool - was totally painless anyway as soon as the freestyle light BEEPED with results, Maji came RUNNING from another room straight in here expecting HER treat! So funny...

Mine 89. Hubby 100. Maji- tonight

I MAY try the lancet device on her dunno...

@Kris & Teasel ... it’s really amazing how well that works! Treats are good!

I tested Maji using the AlphaTrak and the freestyle side-by-side - same blood drop and got a 30 pt diff. 92 vs 62. Is that about standard for the deviation?

Can't say for sure. There are so many factors that the actual number is almost irrelevant. Basically, is it too high, too low or good? That's how I look at it.
