My four year old mostly black male was just diagnosed today. Put on insulin: Vetsulin @ 1 unit twice a day. This is new one for us. We have nursed cats through just about everything. We have 11 at the current time rangeing in age from 3 to 16. We even had cats survive Leukemia back in the day. Looking forward to having a helpful community to ask questions.

    Welcome Pat and kitty!
You certainly have the heart for taking care of your fur babies! Couple things that can help us answer your questions and give advice better are setting up a Signature with some information about your sugar kitty, instructions are here: http://www.felinediabetes.com/FDMB/threads/editing-your-signature-profile-and-preferences.130340/

Do you plan on home testing? It really is one of the best tools in our FD (feline diabetes) toolbelt :). We can help teach you too. Many of us who home test setup Google sheets to share our kitty's BG (blood glucose) readings and if you would need help setting one up, just ask! http://www.felinediabetes.com/FDMB/threads/fdmb-spreadsheet-instructions.130337/

Since you have started insulin, I like to give this to new members because it's better to be prepared but I hope you never need it: http://www.felinediabetes.com/FDMB/threads/how-to-treat-hypos-they-can-kill-print-this-out.15887/

Feel free to ask any questions on the Main Health Forum :). And you may want to start your own thread for your kitty on Vetsulin forum if you seek dosing advice.
