My sweet orange tabby was diagnosed 3 years ago. He was about 11 at the time when his health just tanked. Weight loss, vomiting...quite scary and rapid decline. Thankfully he was regulated with insulin and is still here to cuddle with. We also had an issue recently with blood in his urine. 10 days of antibiotics took care of it. Is it worth the extra work?...you bet!

Hi and welcome to you and your kitty. :)

If you need any pointers about the site, just shout. In the meantime a good place to find useful information is our Health Links and FAQs section. If you have a specific question you're ready to ask, the main Feline Health forum is an ideal place to start posting.

@LTrout, stories like yours are very encouraging! You have done a terrific job.

Is your kitty still on insulin?

Welcome! An orange tabby was my first kitty so I naturally have a soft spot for those, she lived to be 22!

Thanks! Yes, he gets 3 units twice a day. I just wish his dry skin would improve...but otherwise he's doing fine.

Which insulin is LTrout on? For dry skin, see the General Forum; there are a lot of threads and posts on this issue.

It will help to put when your cat was diagnosed, what insulin he is on, how much, what food you are feeding, which glucometer you are using, and any other medical conditions if applicable, in your Signature Line (go to your Profile and then click Signature) so we won't have to ask you every time :)
