Pauline, the cat I picked up yesterday staggering down the middle of the road,
is a little perkier this morning.

She greeted me with a silent meow and came to the front of the
kennel when I entered her room.

She has eaten a little snack and is drinking water.

She has trouble getting up and down. And she has trouble eating from floor
level, so elevated her dishes up on a couple of bricks and this seems to help.

I checked on her once in the middle of the night and gave her a snack then, also.

Now, if she would just do a little grooming, that would be good.

Oddly, she does not seem to have any fleas. Her coat is in pretty good condition,
considering. She is short-haired and her fur is fairly thick.

Her skin does have some redness...seems to be over the bony areas. Perhaps from
laying on hard surfaces, I don't know.

I found a lump on the back of her neck, to one side of her spine. Round and a little
smaller than a marble. Not liking the looks of that.

At first I thought she is young. Her teeth are in pretty good condition...no gum
redness. I did flick a piece of tarter off one of her back teeth.

In her condition, it's really hard for me to tell her age.

She likes to be held and cuddle.

    Yea the lump is worrisome..

The problems with movement could be low potassium, or simply malnutrition. We just had a shelter kitty that came in and couldnt walk she was so skinny and malnurished, older kitten 4-5mos. She had such brittle bones that she couldnt walk really, and when she hit her leg (not hard either) on the litterbox it broke. We couldnt put anything she could jump on/off in her room. She was walking and playing when she got adopted, with a slightly odd gait.

I have her in a roomy metal kennel...like used at some shelters.
    Partly covered with towels.

No shelves she can jump onto.

Yesterday she jumped down from the kennel to the floor and collapsed.
Jumped before I could stop her.
I won't let her do that again...just lift her out.

She had a second small breakfast, and is napping now.

This may sound like a long shot, but could this kitty have been shot at with a bb or pellet? Any wound near this lump?

    No wound that I see.

The lump is about 3/8-inch in diameter. I can feel completely around it
    and just beneath the skin.

Hoping it it some kind of cyst.

I only mentioned that possibility because if she had been shot, that might explain some of her wobbliness and such. Hoping that it's just some small cyst!
