Please Help DCIN with a Contest

Diabetic Cats in Need is taking part in a popularity contest for the opportunity to win up to $1500 in surgical services from Helping Hands, a low-cost veterinary surgical center in Richmond VA. Some DCIN foster and adopted kitties have had their dentals done there, and having a credit at the center would be AWESOME!

There is no registration or profile sharing to be able to vote. Just click on this page and choose to vote for Diabetic Cats in Need (scroll down to see the choices). You can vote once every 24 hours from an ISP, so you may have several opportunities/day to vote with your home computer, your work computer, and your mobile device. And you spouse/partner can vote from separate ISPs too!

Voting goes through June 16. DCIN is up against some very tough competition. Please share this request to vote with your social networks. (You can link your friends or groups to the announcements on DCIN's Facebook Events page or our blog page.) You can put it on your electronic calendar to email/remind you once/day to vote.

Still down by 32 votes. I've run out of ISPs for today.

 

I turned off wifi on my phone and turned on cellular data and then went to Helping Hands. All I got was the results. I could not vote.

 

That's interesting, I was able to vote via 2 WiFi networks and then via cellular data and that was using the same browser for all 3 votes. My carrier is T-Mobile. I wonder if clearing your browser cache would help...

 

I tried Clearing Cookies, History and Data and even tried another browser

 

And still no joy - that's got me stumped. Sorry Larry.

And I was able to vote again an hour later by using just the cellular data so now I got 2 more votes in for DCIN.

 

If you service provider has dynamic IP, you may need to shut down, reboot your modem, then turn on the PC again.

 

We have dynamic IP and I tried that on a different machine and browser and still only got one vote.

DCIN started this morning with a 90 point lead. We'll be in second place this afternoon (if history is a guide) and then back on top by the end of the day--with your help.

I continue to encourage you to share the contest on your social media sites. DCIN got an endorsement last night from a Boston Terrier Rescue that one of our adoptive Moms belongs to. And spreading the word to other groups makes others more aware that cats do indeed get diabetes and that there are places one can go to for help with that diagnosis.

I think it would be really nice if DCIN could get some real distance into 1st place so that toward the end of this marathon we can encourage our friends to vote for any groups that have not yet reached 100 votes, thus allowing them to get into the 2nd place raffle for $1000 of services. As of now, 7 of the 31 groups still haven't qualified.

I'm having trouble voting on every computer- apparently all my work computers have the same ISP #- now how does that happen? There are 3 different computers :?

 

Heather, in a single workspace it is common for the computers to be on the same ISP. It's the same with my public library that has about 20 patron computers, but they all share the same "outgoing line."

 

Just voted for today. Only 8 votes separate the two leaders. DCIN did not get that big nighttime lead.

By a miracle of voting and sharing, DCIN regained it first place lead and opened the margin to 534 votes this morning Eastern time 6am. My faith was wobbly, but DCIN friends, including the many here on FDMB, pulled this out of the toilet.

Please don't relax. The competition is fierce and determined. The contest goes until midnight (Eastern time, I think) Sunday night (Father's Day).

The entire DCIN Team thanks everyone for your votes and sharing in the recent Helping Hands Surgical Contest. Due to your overwhelming support, Diabetic Cats in Need received almost one-third of the votes cast for the 31 contestants. DCIN’s first place finish was 1,700 votes ahead of the second-place rescue, although that result was uncertain many, many times during the two-week voting period. The second-place rescue and its friends are fierce competitors.

The contest was sponsored by Helping Hands Affordable Veterinary Surgery & Dental Care in Richmond, Virginia. We thank the people there for their generosity in making a total of $2,500 in account credits available to two contestants. We also thank Helping Hands for its bare-bones prices, which make surgeries affordable for many.
