Sammie has been in the blacks and reds for the past 10 days. I was supposed to do a curve today but was unable to. I can try again on Sunday. I’m worried about increasing her dose at this time as I’ll be away for several days over Christmas and she historically refuses to eat and drops too low when I have a cat sitter. I did invest in a sure feeder, so hopefully that will help.

With numbers like this, I think I'd be wanting to give the full dose. I'm worried about DKA - it can be very serious. I hope some of the other experienced members can stop by and check your SS...don't mean to worry you...but is there anything that she really loves to eat?

She’s taken to wet food and will eat treats but she isn’t a big eater. She recently had a seizure due to being too low. I’m afraid that will happen while I’m away.
I appreciate you mentioning DKA. I forgot I have ketone strips and will try to catch her using the litterbox.

Did anyone check her BG when she had the seizure because I don’t see any numbers low enough on her SS to attribute a symptomatic hypo to.

All those blacks can also indicate she’s going low somewhere. More tests would help you be sure on the dose.

The hypothesis was that on November 12 she dropped too low overnight. Woke up on the 30th and she had completely lost her vision. It has since returned.

Without a test for her blood glucose - that's an interesting hypothesis - but I would have been looking for something else - where was she when this happened? Who observed the seizure?

We didn’t actually catch the seizure. She was sleeping soundly until about 5:30 am. When I got up at 7 to get ready I couldn’t find her. She was hiding behind furniture and her head was moving back and forth. I took her to the emergency vet and she had lost her vision. They wanted to send her to ophthalmology and neuro but I declined. When I followed up with her primary, he said that temporary blindness can be an after effect of seizures (I forget specifically what kind.) and since her blood sugar was only 83 at preshot it may have been low overnight and caused the seizure.

Edit: I realize I got the dates wrong. It was the 12th and 13th, not the 30th.
