Picked him up at vet last evening. He is now on Novolin so another new experience for us. He was 467 at 8pm, gave 4 u as recommended. This 8am was at 138. Usual their protocol would have been 4u again because he was between 120-250. But I was not comfortable with 4u since that brought him down so far from 467. Contacted vet and told to cut dose in half. So gave 2u and tested at 1:30pm and he was 76. Gave him 1/3 can FF which he ate so will test again shortly and give his Cerenia meds. He is doing better otherwise, active, eating and no fruity breath anymore and they switched from Clavamox to Amoxicillin for his UTI. So I do expect some variation but does it seem normal that 2 u of Novolin would drop him to 76 within 5+ hrs?

UPDATE Retested at 2:30pm and at 152 up from 76 at 1:30pm

4 units is way too high of a dose. I’d do 2, but TEST because that might turn out to be too much too.

Agree - 138@8am, 76@1:30, 152@2:30, 538@7:30 Andy is a bouncer so we were not surprised plus I gave a snack at 1:30 not knowing if that was his lowest. Gave 3 units at 7:30 and he ate well so we shall see...…………….I need to update my spreadsheet etc but things have been so frantic here that I just did not get to it.

update: 358 @+2 (538 to 358 in 2 hrs) is this normal for Novolin??
