? Tiffany - Cabergoline Trial

My vet is on board to start Tiffany on Cabergoline and she is finally feeling better (and over her infections), so we are going to move forward.

I think that I saw that Diamond Back Pharmacy in Scottsdale is one that people are having good results with for the compounding. Tiff is doing awesome taking pills using the pill pockets. (Are those low carb?) So, if those are okay to give, I am hoping to get it made in pill form.

Hope you all are doing well and staying safe from all these horrible hurricanes, earthquakes and fires. (Sure puts things in perspective!)

Good luck with the trial. So far a couple kitties have had a strong reaction to it, in a good way. But it has meant some fast and furious reductions. Post for help on dosing if you want it. Glad to hear Tiffany is feeling better!

Liquid is best for cabergoline, unless the compounder can do pills in smaller format. The Duck and Pea Allergy Free pill pockets (dog version) are lower carb. That's what I used for Neko's meds for a couple years. The other flavours are higher carb. I've heard good things about Diamondback, Roadrunner, and BCP for online compounding. Wedgewood Pharmacy is another.

I had a really good experience with Diamondback Drugs with Harvey's Chlorambucil (Leukeran). It was like 1/3 the price of what Costco wanted for it! I'd call several places to see if there is a price difference.

The dose is so small I don't think you could get it in pill form. So far I have not heard of any cats complaining about the taste. DiamondBack can also add some chicken or beef flavor to it as well. Good luck on the trial I will be keeping an eye on the progress.

Good luck with the trial. You might want to be sure they don't add any sugar syrup when they are compounding a liquid.

A local compounding pharmacy compounded cabergoline in cod liver oil for Chino. He has always fought pills unless they're hidden in pill pockets and dropped in his food dish, but he's been surprisingly good about allowing me to dispense the cabergoline in his mouth. I hope it works for Tiffany!
