Just a little note. I had to switch my boy to YA very slowly, it is a nutrient dense food and can cause some stool changes, so keep an eye on Jebat's litter box :). Oh and first week of poo might stink more than usual

Oh no! His stool is already so stinky. Keeps paws crossed that he likes it. That's the first challenge.

    Thanks for the heads up!
Can he just graze till time for his shot? Do I need to stop him 2 hrs before shot?

My cat was such a nibbler that whatever she ate of the Young Again... A few kibble here and there... Didn't effect her numbers at all, so I never bothered to take it up. I guess you could see if the same is true for you.

The YA brochure said not to mix YA with other food including wet food. So shld I mix or not? I c that u all are giving wet and YA. Any complications?

I do wet twice a day and ya is out all the time. Cats can use the moisture. I also add all their supplements to the wet.... B12, cosequine, omega 3, and recently one of my cats gets FortiFlora.

Thanks! Will try ur way. Feeding him soon in half hour n not sure which way to go. Hvnt let him sniff the YA yet. Will take BG reading then giv him wet n then insulin n leave a bowl of YA n see his reaction. Wish me luck that he'll try it.

No that's too much. Do 1.... If you can't monitor maybe 0.75 . You don't have any data at this level so you want to be conservative. If you haven't feed since that first test grab another test now without food and see if it went up.

It's really rich food so if he's inclined to overeat spread it out or start off slow.

I just wanna be ready in case it happens n I can't get u all.
    Just now 180 I gave 0.8u.
    So if it's 100-150 I'll give 0.4u.
    Below 100 don't shoot.
    Sounds ok?

    I wouldn't shoot below 130 for now without more data.... 130- 170 0.4
    170-220 0.8

Just for now until there's more info.

Let's see what today's numbers look like.

Yes, stop 2 hours before the shot so the pre shot BG test result isn't influenced by food.

He may be bouncing from that blue. His body hasn't seen that sort of number in a while. :). I feed Maury YA and he still gets his wet food meals and lunches, and if any food is left I do take it up 2 hours prior to PS.

And he's not eating the YA.
So tmr dose will depend on his amps? Or shld I lower it?

I guess so. I have a cat with stomatitis and they asked me to pull out all his teeth but they can't guarantee he will recover. And another cat who had diarrhoea for just one morning and the vet made me do full blood count and her liver enzyme is slightly elevated. She said could be cancer. Just like in jebat's case they said cld b cancer cos he lost weight when I was away. I shld update them that he has put back on. Half the time I thk they r out to make $ from pet owners.

    Hmmm so I gave him 3.2u but I'm getting pink at +3 n +5.5.
Anyone has any thought on this? Is it a bouncing effect? Cld it b a low reading at +1 or +2? This is like unravelling a mystery.

He might have gone lower in the middle of the previous cycle and is now bouncing a bit. Keep the 3.2 u dose for a total of 3 cycles and then increase to 3.4 u if you don't get lower numbers.

I didn't want to rain on the green parade but with the +5 and +7 numbers, I have to wonder if it really was 84. Also, adding in that if he did go to 84 at +6, I would have expected to see some sort of bounce by PMPS. You didn't, by chance, take another test immediately?:p

Haha now that I thk about the numbers, it's very unlikely to be 84, ya? Darn! I thot we almost got the dose rite this time. And considering we bounced last nite. Oh well! Better luck next time. Now I feel silly to be so excited.

I'm sorry :bighug:. Janet can correct me if I'm wrong but I think as long as his PS is around the 300s, stick with the 3.2U to see what it does once the bounce clears :). You can still be excited because you're making progress :cat:

It's unlikely but she did say she fed him when she saw the 84, so that would raise the numbers. Eh who knows.

On another thought, If it's a faulty strip why does it show a low number and not high? Hmmm I'm consoling myself. But yes, I do think we are making progress. I'm understanding dosing much better now and all these food stuff. Definitely more knowledgeable than my vets.
Do your cats have problem peeing in the box? Mine seems to be peeing outside the box and he's always so smelly. He's such a clean cat all these years that we are at a loss how to help him. Been bathing him weekly now but he gets smelly the next day.

It may not have sucked up enough blood to give proper result but enough to give a reading. Does Jebat have a big step into the box? Could try a shallow one until his neuropathy starts improving :bighug:

Oh din realise about the blood part. Cos once it beeps I thot that's enuf. Never mind, I'll remember to repeat in future.
Just bought a shallower box for him. He went in but he sprayed outside. It's a standard size mind u. :(
