Wellness sent me mg Phosphorus per 100 kcal for their Complete Health Chicken and Turkey pates.
They are HUGE, 404 and 384. Dr. Pierson's chart says 200 and 218.
I'm going to go scrape it off Yum's plate.
Excellent company to send me such clear information.

These Wellness foods have recently been re-formulated. Dr. Pierson's charts are for the old formulas. The old formulas were Rusty's staples. He refused to eat the new and I had to return them. I haven't had time yet to complain to the company, but I plan to.

    Good luck finding a replacement!

Yep. They changed their formula and the phos is now too high for crf/ckd kitties. It used to be one of my go-tos but not any more. :(

Oh boy, this is a surprise! I was feeding Wellness Turkey & Salmon for many years, then post-DM, have been looking a lot into food choices for Maverick and my civvie. Thank you for inquiring with Wellness and posting...I'm not concerned with Phosphorus for Maverick, but these numbers seem high even for feeding a nonCRF cat :(

The Turkey was also my go-to until they changed formulas. Tried Organix as a replacement but Bronx didn't like it as much :(

Castor&Pollux don't even have the chicken pate on their website. Or I need to look at it again. I need to convince myself that it is really low carb. Not sure about that.

Hmmm. My cans are over a year old. They were a failed experiment from a while back. I am spooked now so I probably won't use them. I will think about it.

They changed the label I thought with the new formula. The new label is more white than green.

Yes. My cans are the old labels. You can still find the old labels on the pet store shelves. But I am still spooked.

If you have the old cans I would not hesitate to use them. Lucky you!
Yes, the new labels are different. They also say prominently: "carageenen free".

This is what I am trying now. It is only available in selected independent stores. Expensive, but worth it.

Thanks. I will look for that. Yum is smitten with Radcat raw lamb right now. But it is so messy and there is the risk of contamination. I see RAWZ is cans.

Thank you so much for posting this information. Girlie hasn't been officially diagnosed with CKD yet, but I know that that looms in the future. I am SO disappointed about the Wellness, as it's one of the foods that she really likes. Aargh!!! :arghh::arghh:
