Hey L, B, & L ~ Is Zyrtec used sometimes to help makes kitties drowsy for traveling? Thanks for any input.
I give Abby Zyrtec 1/4 of 10mg for appetite stimulate , it does not make her sleepy, I believe you can give Benadryl but DOUBLE check on that
I gave (tried) it 2x for appy enhancement. Didn't help (much?). Didn't make him any more lethargic than normal. CBD oil maybe?
My old vet prescribed a transdermal valium for Gordy and Rex for our cross country drive. i was able to get it done up at the local compounding pharmacy (man that was convienient). I specifically asked for something I can give in the road.
Appy enhancement? Does it have the same effect on people because that would explain the last few months HAHA. Sorry, off topic
IDK but having been prescribed and taken Remeron (mirtz) I do know that it does enhance the appy. Sleep and eat. That was about all I could do.
I give my civvie Tiger Zyrtec and CBD, neither seems to make him drowsy. I gave him Benadryl once for a URI and that did sedate him a little, but I've read reactions can be unpredictable.
Anybody using Zyrtec for your diabetics or just civvies? Menace's vet recommended Zyrtec once a day or Benadryl twice a day for season allergies. Obviously once a day dosing is preferable but when I went to pick up the Zyrtec, I noticed lactose in the non-medicinal ingredients and I am afraid it might raise her BG.
For my Taco that quits eating every now and then , I used fortiFlora, all he did was lick the FF off his food, then I found a food that he became VERY addicted to, Beyond, Char &spinach, or Beyond Salmon and spinach, Taco also get about 3mg of Famotidine(pepcid) regular, before his bigger meals, it has helped with his nausea he got a couple months ago, and he gets that everyday, I take a 20 mg,and with a pill cutter I quarter it, then I shave some off to get about 3mg. If your kitty is nausaus, he won't eat, so maybe you can try that or the Beyond I mentioned, Beyond has become like crack to him( using crack as an example) and I'm trying to limit them ,they are 3oz cans and over 1$, but I keep plenty on hand in case Sorry, I just realized you're asking something for travel? not appetite stimulator.
I've given it to Furball in the past and never noticed any change in her BG because of it. However, I only gave it a couple of times in a row, not long term.
