Yesterday was Neko's typical bouncette during the day followed by a nice blue (or better) PM cycle. I went to bed at +6 with the same number I started this morning. :-D

7/27 Recap:
AMPS 212 +4 327 +9 225
PMPS 188 +3.5 163 +6 119

Neko's had all but one of her breakfast servings and just came into the kitchen hinting that it would be OK to feed the last serving early. She had a little walk outside after first breffs and has done some napping in the solarium. Theo got her big basket first, so she had to settle for his slightly smaller bed. Neko's a bigger cat so likes the bigger bed, but that makes it all the more attractive to Theo. DH watched Neko go into the solarium, look at Theo in her basket, and could practically hear a sigh as she contemplated whether the chair or other bed would be her nap spot. In spite of complaining that he has her basket, I did find just Neko in the solarium at +6 last night, and she was in his bed. It's not so bad afterall.

OT: Today Theo is having another of his FLUTD flares. :YMSIGH: No peeing yesterday and today he's starting to visit the LB a bit more often and try. He's had a couple of quarter sized pees so far today. He's been getting lots of extra liquids on his food, and I syringed some extra water in him last night. Of course being Sunday his vet is closed. I called Neko's vet, and since he's not a patient there they couldn't find room for him. I could take him to the vet I did the last time he had a flare (on a Sunday  ) but wasn't too satisfied with the service. I guess I could insist on some fluids but all they'll want to do is sell me the high carb C/D food. Last time they called two times after our visit trying to sell it. At least this time it'd be a regular vet and not a locum. The other option is a higher priced vet office that isn't open for another two hours, but no guarantee I'll get in. But I know personally two of the vets (and row with one of them) and I know they are up to date with stuff - they recommend home testing for FD. Or I could wait and if I can't get in to either, then it's off to emerg. vetty. On the plus side, it's early in the flare and he doesn't seem to be too bothered by it yet.

Hi Wendy,
Sounds like the kitties are playing musical baskets/beds! So sorry to hear about Theo's FLUTD. Did you go to the vet today? Sending him lots of healing vines

Have a good evening,

Re: 7/28 Neko AMPS 119 +3.5 352 - Theo FLUTD flare

Hi Wendy - Neko is so funny sighing about her brother being in her bed! Sorry to hear about Theo's flare-up. I hope you can get him feeling better soon! Take care!

Re: 7/28 Neko AMPS 119 +3.5 352 - Theo FLUTD flare

Sorry about Theo's flare-up. I hope you can get him in to see a good vet. That's so cute on Neko and Theo's beds.

Re: 7/28 Neko AMPS 119 +3.5 352 - Theo FLUTD flare

Poor Neko having to nap in the little bed.On the other hand w/ some of the places they squeeze them into it must not have been that bad!

Good early catch for Theo. Does he get infection or inflammation/crystals? Tess has had several bladder infections and it was recommended that we give her glucosamine/ chondritin. It strengthens and soothes the bladder lining as well as joints. We also give her a cranberry/ D-Mannose supplement and no infections since Anti-Jinx!

Re: 7/28 Neko AMPS 119 +3.5 352 +9 265 - Theo back

Neko can't decide which color is his favorite today? That's one crazy rainbow cycle.

Sending vines to Theo.

Re: 7/28 Neko AMPS 119 +3.5 352 +9 265 - Theo back

+3.5 352 +9 265
Neko gave me permission to take care of Theo today. DH was home and got the +9. I'm sure Neko enjoyed several Theo free hours today. When we got home - she was sleeping in his bed in the solarium. :o

There are amazingly few non emergency vets open on Sunday and those that are are usually full because they are one of the few open. I finally found one across town, 30 minutes away that one of the other vets I called recommended. I was a little leery walking in, because their walls were lined with prescription food. :? However, most of the experience was OK. The best part was that Theo did a large pee on the pee pads in his carrier on the way over. Yeah! Not something one normally celebrates, but it does mean that part is working and not blocked. Poor dude sat in it a while and kind of stank. I did a quick pee pad change in the carrier while in the waiting room. He got some fluids and relaxant he had before. I strongly declined Metacam and got bupe instead. I agreed to the works, blood test, urinalysis, C&S. It's been over a year since he's had the blood work and C&S. He peed some more on the fresh pee pad on the way home. :-D He's currently on the table under my arms, purring. And I got shown how to check to his bladder, something I've wanted to learn. He's to go to his regular vet tomorrow if he doesn't pee again overnight. In the mean time, I'll have to cover a lot of things with towels as he was leaking before we left.

@Mariko - I did find a vet on Oak St. I even called your vet in hopes they had a spot, no luck.

@Ella - Musical baskets continues. Theo's in and back and seems to be feeling a bit better. Now I'm watching the LB like a hawk.

@Dara - I love the kitty antics. Theo seems better, but the LB is the evidence.

@Carla - Vet seemed OK. They didn't push the vetty foods like the last Sunday vet we visited did.

@Ann - He doesn't seem to get infections, but I did a urine C&S just to check. It's officially idiopathic cystitis. ie. Who knows what causes it. He did have a bit of crystals the first time but diet has been changed and he gets more water now. He also gets Cranimals (cranberry additive) and Cosequin. I'm also going to put up Feliway again because stress is one of the reasons for flares.

Update: gave him bupe a while ago and he seems a bit stumbly. I couldn't find the records of how much he got last time which seemed to work well. I'll call his vet in the AM before I give him any more. But he's back on my arms again.

Re: 7/28 Neko AMPS 119 +3.5 352 +9 265 - Theo back

Neko is such a good boy. He gave you a break so you could attend to Theo! I'm glad Theo is feeling better.

Re: 7/28 Neko AMPS 119 +3.5 352 +9 265 - Theo back

Hi Wendy,
I am glad you found a vet who can see Theo today, and that he peed and feeling better!
Sending tons of pee vines to Theo.

Neko is such a good girl to let you concentrate on Theo today.

Re: 7/28 Neko AMPS 119 PMPS 244

Not a bad PMPS, Neko, but you better show some better numbers so Theo doesn't hog all of the attention. ;-) I know where Oak St. is. :-D I'm glad you got him in today. Paws crossed it clears up right away.
Liz
