AMBG 105

Getting ready to head out for our dental/x-ray. Buster couldn't have a more perfect AMBG to start the day! Not too high, not too low. He has thoroughly expressed his feelings on no breffis this morning for sure! Hope we get some answers on his elbow and can help him be more comfortable. Fingers, paws and tails crossed for no extractions. How am I gonna get any work done today? Wish us luck!

Re: 8/20 Buster AMBG 105, +10.5 167 - back from vet

We're back from the vet. No extractions - yay! Just clean teef. The xrays on his arm really didn't show anything remarkable whatsoever. She is thinking maybe it's a bicep tendon issue because of the clicking in his shoulder? Bones look solid. No idea why he is licking that arm. We are going to stop the Dasuquin for a week and then talk again on Saturday. She is hesitant to prescribe anything without a proper diagnosis. I fed him a tiny amount - he was ravenous! Plan on giving his normal dose tonight as long as he keeps his fuds down cat_pet_icon

Thank you everyone for the well wishes :YMHUG: Glad to have my buddy home again!

Edit: She said he was about 130 throughout the day (on a human meter) - tested twice while he was there.

Re: 8/20 Buster AMBG 105, +10.5 167 - back from vet

Hi Tara,
Many years ago I had that type of clicking in my hip/leg. The doctor told me it was the sound of a tendon moving over the bone and that I should let it heal by not aggravating it. (It did.)

So glad that Buster didn't have any extractions. Have a good evening. The KTSS will be along later to deal with the vetty smell.

I'm so glad the dental went well and Buster is home

I'm so glad the dental went well and Buster is back home. Hopefully the clicking is just something that will heal on its own.

Re: 8/20 Buster AMBG 105, +10.5 167 - back from vet

Interesting, Ella. That's exactly what she was thinking. The tendon that runs between the bumps at the end of the bone - she thought maybe that was slipping off. I hope it goes away - although I can't imagine Buster staying sedentary for very long. I hope it's not painful - of course he doesn't show it if it is

Congratulations on the toofers! YAY!!!!! Shasta's clicking sound comes and goes...if that helps any...but I have no idea the cause. Hope Buster is keeping his fuds down tonight!!!!

Re: 8/20 Buster PMPS 184- back from vet

I'm kind of ok with the clicking. I worry more that he licks his left front arm a lot. Something is bothering him but we can't seem to identify the cause. I wish it would just pass - ugh!

Re: 8/20 Buster PMPS 184- back from vet

Hi Tara,
Well I'm too late now to be sending vines for the dental, but I'm very glad it all very so well!
Yay for no extraction!!!!

There was one time a long time ago Ginger kept licking the inner base of her tail a lot for days.
At first, I didn't think much of it, thought it's part of her cleaning, but she was licking so obsessively and losing her fur.
So I took her to the vet because I though it was maybe anal glands or something, but all was fine.
What the vet thought was that in the beginning perhaps there was some smell or something that bothered her, which got her to start licking.
And then the obsessive licking irritated her skin, which lead her to more licking: result --> prawn tempura tail (no fur at the base) & reddish skin under the fur.
The vet gave her an anti-itchy shot, and for the next few days I tried to distract her as much as possible when she started licking, and within a few days, she seemed to have forgotten all about it.
Can you see his skin under his fur where he licks?

Re: 8/20 Buster PMPS 184, +3 54

No, it hasn't gotten to the point where I can see skin. He just licks it enough where every time I go to test I can tell the fur has been wet. It seems to be the worst at about mid-day. I also noticed he sometimes goes under the bed which isn't normal for him. The only thing that changed is I started giving him Dasuquin. He started licking his arm about 2 weeks after that. We'll see what happens if we omit that part of the equation.

Re: 8/20 Buster PMPS 184, +3 54

I hope he'll stop licking without the Dasuquin, so you'll know what's causing the licking,
Buster, stop worrying your momma.

Amen! Looks like I'll be up for another hour to check him again. Poor lil thing - keeps swallowing and he stops purring as soon as he starts. I figure that's from the trachaea tube. I can only imagine. He's eating well and keeping it down so that's a good thing.

Buster's looking good tonight!  Might be from the anesthesia. I was happy to hear it was just a basic cleaning. I hope you can find a solution to his left arm. When my broken elbow was healing the tendons were "popping" a lot, very irritating.
