Re: 8/27 Ozy AMPS-176

Hi guys .. yay for clearing a bounce! Easy surfing thoughts headed ozy's way! Have a great day guys!

Okay, it is looking like an active cycle (thanks Wendy for the tip that +2 lower than PS means active cycle) and he is blue. Am I in for too low today? Anything I can do to prevent too low? I don't want another bounce.

Pretty blue start for Ozy today. Sorry about that +6. Not too much that can be done about bounces but to wait them out. It does mean that Ozy has a healthy liver. :-D

But won't this constant bouncing wear his liver out?

And isn't it taking a long time to regulate him? It has been about 8 weeks. His health is improved. His numbers are on average somewhat lower. But he still often has high readings and also has had some pretty low readings.

I am feeling a bit discouraged.

Neko's been on Lantus since February 2011. She still bounces but now she doesn't bounce as high as she used to. The saying here is that cats bounce until they don't. They do it in their own time. At some point they stop. We don't have a lot of control over it. The more time they spend in healing numbers, the better. Take a look at Elian's SS. He's now on .1U and almost OTJ. He bounced a lot and at some point he just stopped bouncing.

If Ozy's health has improved, that's what's important. The numbers are just that. That's why we like the whole cat report. How is he feeling? Is he more active? Playing?

He is still pretty sedentary. Most days he does not play at all. On a good day he is alert, may sit at the door and watch the birds/squirrels some, will sit on our laps, seems interested in what is going on, will purr sometimes if petted. His coat is better. He isn't starving all the time. His pancreatitis is much better. Other times he just mostly sleeps and doesn't engage much. On bad days he has pain, hides, is grumpy and his neuropathy can be bad. Today he hid a couple times, was very grumpy about testing, wanted mostly to be alone and slept a lot and his neuropathy is pretty bad. I attribute all that to the bounce (he has been in the 300's steadily for a few days).

We feel afraid to leave him for very long for fear his glucose will drop too low. We seldom leave him for more than 2-3 hours. I really would like to go for a hike and be gone for 5-6 hours. Every time we plan anything, he looks like he might go too low.

Are we too cautious?
