Lucy is feeling good today!
She wanted finger-feeding, but she ate her breakfast pretty well.
She came back to bed with me earlier and purred loudly.
And look at the nice surf Lucy is having today!
Hopefully this won't make her bounce.

She hasn't pooped today yet.
She is keeping me worried.....
She has been pooping in the morning the past 4 days, but she didn't this morning.
The next poop will be the first poop off metronidazole, so I really want to see what it's like.
Get it out, Lucy.

It sounds like you are having an almost-perfect day - all that's missing is a healthy poo! :lol:
Those are some great numbers, and Lucy's behaviour sounds even nicer.
Have a lovely rest of the holiday, Mariko, Lucy and Ginger, and post an update when Lucy visits the litter box!

Aw, I'm so sorry about the liquipoo. It sounds like she needs a longer run of metronidazole?? I know Sienne mentioned her Gabby needed it for a decent amount of time, because when she would stop, the liquipoo would start again.

Well too bad, liquipoo returned. :sad:
She pooped about a couple of hours ago, and it was part solid part runny.
So I called the vet, and just picked up more metronidazole.
She'll be on it for 10 days this time.

The vet was available when I was these, so I was able to talk to her a bit.
She thinks this is most likely caused by the IBD, and I think she's right.
If her diarrhea comes back after this additional 20 pills of metronidazole, I think I'll just have to put her back on 5mg of steroid istead of 2.5mg.
I guess that's not too bad because it's not like she's steroid-free now, and she did OK with 5mg before we reduced a couple of months ago.

I asked her about another steroid, budesonide, and she told me that they used to be more enthusiastic about it but now not so much because they did find that in the end it does affect other systems as well, and raises BG.
She doesn't think there is a lot of other options for Lucy because of her IBD.
I'll try regularly adding probiotic before completely giving up, but I think it's time for me to admit that this trial of reduced steroids is failing.
And a little bit of higher BG due to more steroids is better than constant inflammation in her intestine for Lucy. And I can always adjust her insulin.
I just wanted her to have a better chance in remission, but I feel like I'm doing more damage to her by trying.......

Anyway, we shall see after another 10 days of metronidazole.

It is definitely a balancing act when our kitties have multiple issues. Yes, you can always adjust her insulin as needed, should you have to increase her pred again. That's one of the "good" things about diabetes and home-testing...you actually do have at least a little control.

Awww Mariko, I'm sorry that Lucy's got the liquipoo back again. Oh how I pray the longer run of met will cure it.

Healing vines for Lucy tonight. I do so hope that the juggling act will be successful. Mariko, you are doing a fine job. Let's hope that the next 10 days of the meds will help your girl.

Piling onto the other solid poo vines others are sending and hoping the longer stretch of met. will work.

Lucy had a beautiful cycle in spite of the liquipoo. No matter which way you have to go with the steroid, her numbers look lovely.
