Good Morning Lantus Land!

Well, I had a thorough post completed a little while ago, and when I tried to upload a picture, I got an error message, so here's the condensed version:

First and foremost, prayers go out to Jamie, Jupiter, Dane, the Surgeon and Vet Support Staff!

All 8 of Gobbles' P's are present

ETA: Forgot to mention: he gets Cypro and Pepcid twice a day....if I could only figure out WHY his appetite is lacking? I am going to give it to him another 24 hours, and then see if his "real" appetite has returned...

Gobbles BG readings have been averaging about 60. His GI issues have cleared up some. He had diarrhea for almost two weeks, ending this past Monday when the Poo Fairy FINALLY got off her a$$ and left buried treasure. I received a wealth of information and advice from many members these past two weeks which I wholeheartedly appreciate.

It seems that Gobbles may have a gluten allergy, therefore, I am now feeding him Fancy Feast Chicken & Liver classic. I also believe he does better on higher-protein (and lower fat!!!) foods. I am sticking with the FF for now, as it is within my budget. Also, I found a product, Fruitables, for digestive help. It's a pumpkin-based digestive supplement for dogs and cats: http://www.fruitablespetfood.com/fruitables_digestive_supplement.html. I gave it to him twice almost a week ago and have not given it to him since. If his liqui-poo returns, it will be the first thing I try to combat it with.

I've attached a picture I took of Gobbles this morning, enjoying the mild weather...along with a picture of my gorgeous back yard.

Wondeful news, Kat!!!
I'm really happy to hear that Gobbles' tummy problem is improving!!!
And Yay for OTJ Day 2918!!!

Wow! Great pic! So glad to hear from you and that you are doing well. :-D Stella is miraculously down to .25U !!!! Can you believe it???? Looks like good news all around.

Great news!

What were you feeding Gobbles before?
Hi Sienne--thanks for asking! I was feeding him FF Chunky Chicken, FF Turkey & Giblets, Friskies SD Ocean Whitefish, Friskies SD Turkey & Giblets, Friskies Turkey & Giblets (pate--and I found out this one does NOT have gluten in it). I tried Merrick Grammy Pot Pie and with the Fruitables, I think it was just too much vegies & fruits PLUS it is expensive...he ate it for a few days, the would absolutely not eat it--avoided it like the plague. He got the belly ache while on it, so I am thinking he MAY have associated it with his belly ache (and I attribute the belly ache to it and/or combination of it with the Fruitables). His tummy does not hurt him now--I've been doing the "belly motility exercises" as suggested by Barb (& Mr. Frog) and Dian (& Wheezer). I removed ReNew and Metamucil from his regime a week ago. His last dose of Flagyl was this past Monday.

I sent the two of you a FB message :-D :-D :-D

GREAT news on Gobbles Kat! Gees, is all that corn yours? I'll have to do a "corn run"!!!

Oh I am so happy to read that Gobbles is feeling FINE.....

Such a relief when a kitty is back to the good side of health

I know you went through a few extra vapes during all this!!! YIKES...great stress relievers right?

Your post was great for us all to read for info....I learned a lot!!

Why did you have Gobbles on the Re-New to begin with? Was it part of his normal "diet"?

So do the deer and Gobbles ever meet? I have deer all around here too....and Tomcat could care less...but the deer are fascinated by him when he walks around them......

Thanks Bern--no, we have a garden, to the right of the picture, and are growing corn--but ours is Indian Corn and it is just gorgeous this year. We are bordered by the corn and have one of our treestands in a tree that borders the corn. There are lots of local farm markets in the area with some delicious corn, among other vegies...!!!

Thanks Kelly....a "few extra vapes"....oh deer--way more than a few! I've taken a liking to "Southern Freeze" http://altsmoke.com/southernfreeze.html and have switched to iClear 16 clearomizers w/replaceable coils :-D I can't even describe the flavor; maybe like a icy, cool peach tea....kinda. I had Gobbles on the ReNew since April (his last bout of diarrhea)--it was the only thing that worked....then two weeks ago, the liqui-poo returned. Yes, Gobbles has met the deer on the dinner table many times  I have debated bringing him up in my treestand (no, really) via a big backpack I have--I'm thinking that now he feels better, I'm gonna try it...if I do so, I'll get a pic!

I'm so glad Gobbles is feeling a little more "solid" these days. Nothing worse than trying to figure out what is messing with their digestion. Love the pic of him surveying his domain. He does look like he owns it.

BTW - raw food can sometimes help "solidify" things. Venison is one of Neko's favorites. ;-) It's also a good high protein, low fat meat.

Hi Kat. Great report on Gobbles. He sure looks like he rules the area in the picture. Love the back yard picture....if you build it they will come!

Have a great day Kat.

Thanks Wendy! With just 15 days till bowseason...perhaps DH or I will be able to provide some tasty venison for Gobbles :-D And basically, he does own everything!

Thanks John. Love your "if you build it" analogy!!! I'm dreaming of cheeseburgers....

Definitely good news and so happy the poo fairy got off her a$$ too and is now doing her job!

Paws crossed that this continues and he continues to feel better.

Hi Kat - so glad Gobbles is doing better. I just love his pic - he is so handsome!!! Makes me want to let my kitties out, but they woudn't know what to do with themselves! And I don't live in a good area for that anyway.

I hope you guys have a really good day!

Yay for Gobbles! I've been worrying about him.

And Mikey's very happy that Gobby has chosen to join him on the high protein adventure. Mikey's favorite is the Friskies Special Diet Turkey & Giblets. It does contain "brewer's rice," but that's it in terms of carbs (5%). It's also higher protein than many of the FF (and cheaper, too!) although the Liver and Chicken FF is a great one (they never have that one where I live for some reason).
