Yesterday: good numbers all day!

It's a bird, it's a plane, it's a . . . diving Papaya? After the overall ickiness of seeing HI on the meter this morning, I thought it was one that was going to last a while because she was quite restless. Yesterday I put a low shelf between my bed and the wall, just at mattress height, which I can store boxes underneath and bedside-table stuff on top of, but Papaya was a bit of a nuisance early this morning grabbing at things within her reach. First it was tissue, then a little pile of loose bobby pins which apparently were just soooo fun to flick with her paw! But she's coming down so fast maybe it was that making her fidgety, or maybe it was just too tempting having all these new things within easy reach!

Papaya had really good numbers yesterday, but spent the WHOLE day under a quilt on my bed. I think she's in love with it. An older lady I've known since I was a child recently gave me this quilt she made. It's a very bold purple design (drunkard's path blocks for those who quilt, arranged so it's kind of like a giant flower, actually very well chosen colours) but it's good-old-Fortrelle fabric so a bit stiff. Somehow that must make a perfect cat-cave, I guess because it is more likely to hold itself up into nice tunnel-like ripples than just cling to the cat, so yesterday Papaya would come half out to eat then turn around and burrow back under her Big Purple Quilt. I hope it holds her down to earth today so she doesn't bounce back up after this morning's quick drop!

Thinking of Jamie & Jupiter and Angela & Blackie's Shadow today.

Wow, that's a fast dropping kitty! Slow down a bit, Papaya!!! How cute that she loves "her" new quilt! I bet you're right...she probably loves the "cave" ability it has.

Have a great day, Amy!

What a drop! I think it's time to strap that parachute on her, Amy. Cats love to snuggle into things... I have a civvie, Daisy, who loves to get into jeans (be them shorts or pants), and she also loves to snuggle into blankets, too. Hoping for a lovely surf for you both. :-D

Re: 9/12 Papaya AMPS=HI +4=220 Look out below!

Dive! Dive! Hold on there, lil Papaya! Why you gotta drop like a rock? Don't you know surfing a long flat wave is where it's at? That quilt sounds wonderful - for cats or beans. I love a good blanket, too!

Re: 9/12 Papaya AMPS=HI +4=220 Look out below!

Maybe she's just getting in touch with her roots, Clan of the Cave Cat-style.

Re: 9/12 Papaya AMPS=HI +4=220 Look out below!

Thanks for visiting, Amy, Angela, Tara and Lara! I guess we would all choose to spend the day under a quilt sometimes if we had the option!

Angela - that's funny about Daisy liking jeans! Hopefully she waits for the bean's legs to be out of them first . . . having a cat try to climb up inside your pantleg would be pretty weird

Re: 9/12 Papaya AMPS=HI +4=220 Look out below!

My friend has a ferret who likes to climb up pantlegs while you're in them, I think I'd prefer a cat trying to  I'm so jealous of the quilt, I've been trying to find one since my grandma isn't around to make me a new one and mine is almost in pieces:( I hope Papaya has a great rest of the day, hope the dive evens off in some great numbers :-D

Re: 9/12 Papaya AMPS=HI +4=220 Look out below!

Hey Rachel, thanks for stopping by! I hope I see a decent PMPS but it's really anybody's guess at this point! Ugh, I am a pretty general "animal person" but I am not so much of a ferret fan. I have friends who used to have ferrets too. I was sitting on the couch in a long skirt and the ferret slipped underneath, ran up my leg and fastened himself to the back of my knee with his sharp little teeth, like a giant furry leech. Of course I jumped up and was trying to shake it off, and my friend was just "AAAAAH! DON'T HURT HIM!". I think a cat nosing its way around would be much better too!

I was really touched with getting this quilt, too, as she makes them mostly just for her grandkids. Another even older lady, who was legally blind but still kept quilting as best as she could, gave me a couple quilts a while ago as well. The problem with those ones was that (just like her living room carpet) the quilt was full of big stiff pins that she couldn't see and didn't realize were there. It took a while of sleeping with that quilt to "find" all of the pins, ouch! But it was still very sweet of her to give them to me. I guess you'll just have to take up quilting!

Re: 9/12 Papaya AMPS=HI +4=220 Look out below!

Well...yeah, I failed sewing in the mandatory course we had many moons ago in junior high school (yes, failed) so I'm not much of a craft girl. I'm ok with building stuff, comes from having a carpenter for a dad I guess, haha. That sounds like sleeping is painful with the pins in the quilt :? I guess I will have to continue to haunt the farmers market and online kijiji for a decent priced quilt. I as well like most all animals but I'm not really a fan of ferrets either, they're ok in a cage they just like to bite me  Come on Papaya and give your bean a good PMPS!

At least you had a great day yesterday. I'm curious to see what the PM brings too. My civie loves quilts too, but mostly because if I pull one out, it means he can snuggle in for a nap.

Pull the chord Papaya!

Re: 9/12 Papaya AMPS=HI +4=220 Look out below!

I hope Papaya doesn't bounce back up from the crazy drop. That's so cute with snuggling under the quilt. I'm sure she thought you put the things on the shelf just for her to play with. Don't you know everything belongs to the cat.

Thanks Carla! She did bounce up again, but at least not quite as high. Plus she has finally dislodged herself from the clutches of the purple quilt and come out to use the LB then join me on the sofa, so I think she's feeling reasonably good and should be on her way down again shortly. I'm glad I got that test in this morning so I know she wasn't this high ALL day!

Your ferret story is funny.

Well it looks like Papaya is pretending she's a yo-yo today.
I hope it's amusing, Papaya, but it's time to settle down now.

I'm glad she's feeling well, Amy.
Maybe tomorrow cycle will be better!
