5 Ps and all's well. Lots of purring and happy playing and running.
I'll never be able to adequately express my gratitude to LL for getting him back. But I can try. Thank you all so very much.

I'm pretty sure that the crazy highs of the last few days were because I was letting him eat Friskies and Fancy Feast pates. Either the extra carbs or the possibility of beef in what he was eating spiked him up.
Now he's over that, and is floating in beautiful blues.

River is looking great this morning. Neko says the waters are warm in the lagoon today and to come on down.

Great to hear River is feeling more like himself, and nice to see those blues.

You realize you're making me want to lug Papaya around to various glass surfaces and take pictures . . . too funny!
 
I have a caliper question. And I've already read this.

How do I figure out the correct dosage using the caliper? I have this Procise digital caliper.
I've made it go to 2.75mm. Is this equivalent to the 2.75u of Lantus I want? I'm using BD Ultrafine II Insulin Syringe 3/10cc 31 gauge, short needles with half unit markings. I was hoping this would be as plain as the nose on my face.

If I remember right, what made it finally click for me was that 1 unit is 1.6mm...so each .25 is .4 mm...so 2units would be 3.2mm, and 2.75u would be 4.4mm

Some people use 1.5 or 1.45, but by using the 1.6 it makes it easier to deal with the .25u changes

It took me a while to get used to the calipers, like a week.
I think you want to find the most perfect syringe you can find in your bunch or box of syringes, and then try to match up the dose you want with the calipers, and then twist that little knob on the top so the calipers stay measured at that dose.

Thank you Dyana! So I use the ideal spot on needle as my starting point. I now have the caliper locked at 2.75mm, but I didn't think that was right.

Now I'll go find an "ideal" needle and put the plunger at 2.75, then open the caliper to that point, and lock the caliper, and that's what I'll use for future doses.
