Yesterday's Condo

Charms is still getting some nice greens on this dose! All the p's are in place. Weight is still a concern. Called vet twice, no return call yet.

Yesterday Rhiannon asked if I had ever had Charms have an ultrasound. I have two vets, and neither has the equipment. Charms is eating a lot of the YACZ so he should be getting enough calories. He had high BG numbers for so long, I wonder if he just needs to catch up with these good numbers. Or I also wonder if the blood tests are just not picking up on a thyroid issue. Would like to send his blood to a different lab, but my vet has not even returned my calls. -Sam

Love the beautiful cycles Charms is showing.

Neither of my vets (different one for civie, long story), have ultrasound equipment. There is a roving ultrasound specialist vet who comes to the vetty office once every couple of weeks for one, and the other does referrals to a specialty vet that does have the equipment. You should ask your vet - whenever you can get in touch with them - what they'd suggest. If you do decide to get an ultrasound, you might want to think about them having a look at Charms heart as well. He did get to high doses and I know you didn't have him tested for the high dose conditions, but one of the possible side effects to acromegaly (the high dose condition which Neko has) is an enlarged heart. It wouldn't hurt to have a baseline scan of Charm's heart, just in case. Neko has a heart murmur. I did get a echocardiogram done of Neko's heart but it didn't show anything out of normal, so we just do periodic monitoring of the heart murmur.

When you had the thyroid test done, was it the total T4 or the free T4?

What worries me is that you say he is eating a lot of the YA. Normal amount for an average size cat is 2 Tablespoons ( as I understand it per Melanie/Ninja)
And Charms is losing weight?
I'd be hoping to pin that down. Thyroid or other issues....

would he eat more if you gave him more? is his current weight appropriate? it might be helpful if you recorded his weight in his ss notes.
