Hey everyone just wanted to give a quick update about Jupiter
Due to his constipation last week (he went to oncall vet on Oct. 26th for constipation and vomiting) we are to give him Miralax 1/8 tsp daily. We also have to keep trying to increase his water consumption while he is taking the Miralax. I am very concerned with this because after his last chemo treatment - for a few days he had such a poor appy.
We have tried a few things and suggestions for increasing his fluids. We tried some "catsip" (the lactose free milk for cats) and the first time we gave it to him he had a few licks but since then he would not drink it again. We also tried a water bowl fountain (thanks MJ for getting him one!). We have also tried the juice out of the FF appetizers - which he absolutely loves (but these are expensive so hard to get them for him). I drain all liquids out from the appetizer and mix the miralax in.... then I take the tray of food and add a few drops of water and mix it up and let it sit for a bit then drain it again and I give him that ... but he will only occasionally drink that.... I assume because its not flavored as strong.. I have also drained some gravy out of the HC friskies shreds in gravy and mix 1/2tsp water in with all the gravy from the can... and he will usually lick that up. I was given some recipes for chicken broth... but he is such a picky eater and I really dont think he will drink it.
He had his bloodwork done on Friday to make sure he would be able to get the chemo treatment on Monday.... everything was within normal range besides his cholesterol which was a bit high.
Jupiter's chemo is tomorrow morning. If everyone could please keep him in their thoughts and prayers tomorrow, I would really appreciate it.
(We will be leaving here around 6:10am to have him there around 9:00am. I will be posting updates from my phone during the day and will be posting them to my facebook wall. I have a hard time posting on the board from my phone so I will probably not be able to post here during the day but will be sure to update once we get home... We have to have him there by 9am and he will likely be done between 12pm-2pm but it takes over 2 hours to drive home so will update a little after that. My brothers girlfriend who is pregnant, and due on 11/8 is getting induced tomorrow morning so I am really hoping that Jupiter does really well with this chemo treatment so we are able to go to the hospital tomorrow evening - cant wait to meet my nephew)
