11/11 Twice PMPS 304

Yesterday

Good morning LL It is Remembrance Day and I am so very grateful for our soldiers, and our beautiful and free country

We had a very flat day yesterday, first yellow in the am then yucky pink in the pm. Will we see some movement today?? We shall see.
Twice wasn't very happy that he pretest didn't involve a can of food. He hollered at me for the next hour, then played dead on the kitchen floor. Seriously Twice? :lol: I am quite certain you can hang in there :lol:
Gobbled up his first can of breffis, will get the rest doled out over the next couple hours. He is currently pretending that we are playing together. What is actually happening is that he is attacking my foot then running away. Mommy's so fun :roll: It is a balmy -27C here this morning (-16.6F).so I'm thinking it's a stay in kinda day. I think I will finish reading my Diana Gabaldon book this morning then maybe a nap

-16 degrees!! Wow, sure does sound like a cup of hot chocolate, read a good book type of day. I am glad you don't have to go "down under" today.

Twice, you can come and dip your toes in the pool today - the water is warm!!

In a cat's eye, the entire world is his/her toybox....including MamaBean's footsie! Gotta love how resourceful they are when it comes to finding playthings. Hopefully Twice will show you a little action today.

Yikes on those temps. I'd be going nowhere....that's for sure! I feel like such a wimp when we start getting close to freezing....I do not like cold, and we won't even discuss how I feel about snow!

Hi Kim, I think you must have the record low temp. this morning! We are still entertaining thoughts of paddling, but this morning we have snow here. Maybe it will warm up later this week.
Twice, time to come down. Keep on playing! Your mamabean needs a distraction from her book!

Question: Does it look like Twice is bouncing (but such a nice flat yellow cycle the other day) or do you think it is possible that I set my calipers to a poopy syringe and he is getting too small of a 1u dose?? Maybe the syringe was wonky? Or is this a failed reduction? And what exactly constitutes a failed reduction?

Great to hear Twice is feisty today. I hate +11 tests too, they think it means early breakfast.

Regarding your question, I think Twice is still bouncing. It can take 6 cycles after the low to clear the bounce, and this is just cycle 3. I'd wait until the bounce has cleared to evaluate the dose. If you are worried about setting a wrong dose with the calipers, I'd compare against a few old syringes. There can be lots of variability, even within a bag of BD syringes. A failed reduction is where you don't see nice (green) numbers and the numbers start trending upward. After a reduction, you wait for the bounce to clear, and if you aren't seeing good numbers or they start trending up, then you go back up.

you've had him at this dose for what? 16 cycles? Im kind of new-ish but that seems like a really long time.

IF he is on a bounce right now, do you like the nadirs he was having on this dose before the "bounce?"

& keep in mind that sometimes bouncy cats will just keep on bouncing and you can get stuck at a dose waiting for the bounce to "clear"

@Wendy-Thank you for the info. I was never sure exactly what was meant by 'failed reduction'. I did end up testing against quite a few syringes when I set the calipers up and went with the average. However, lots of room for error with the larger caliper measurements that this set has. But it will be a consistent dose from now on and I am happy about that. In fact, this syringe I just used tonight would have underdosed him by about .25units..Yikes! No wonder so much fluctuation from cycle to cycle.

@Michele-I haven't been thrilled with any of his nadirs so far. It's been a weird go. .75u was clearly not enough as it was mostly purple. Went to 1u for 12 cycles and lowest nadir was I think 223 and otherwise very purple the whole time. 1.25u gave me BLUE!!! Then threw a 32 at us :sad: Shot through the bounce and ended up with only 4 cycles on that dose. Now back at 1u.....But I have had some better nadirs this time around. I think I am just so new and the trends are still establishing themselves...I may be lacking the patience needed? I think Twice is one of your bouncy cats. Shoulda named him Tigger! :lol:
