Yesterday, Neko got her blues back! :-D

11/12 Recap:
AMPS 131 +6 242 +9 123
PMPS 151 +5 177 +10 156

Neko definitely feels better in blues. When I got up for last nights +10 test (didn't need to as it turns out  ), she popped out of her bed and came to greet me. Normally she just keeps on sleeping and I go to her. Maybe she thought it was early breakfast. We did have a good lap session after shot time. I seem to only get those when she's in the blues. Today is a dry day with some sun. The cats made a beeline for the solarium as soon as breakfast was over. It's like the sun is a magnet to them.

I think we'll hang out on this old cartridge for a few cycles yet. I'd really like to get some more green in the picture but her shed might need a bit of filling yet after that last wonky cartridge. I'm going to be somewhat nervous going to yet another new cartridge. Blues/yellow are much better than yellows/pinks.

Re: 11/13 Neko AMPS 121 +3.5 262

Hi Wendy,
Good idea to stick with the cartridge you know works. Why don't you call the manufacturer and tell them that your 'fridge malfunctioned and that the insulin was affected. Can't hurt, and they might send you some new cartridges.

Yo Neko, I agree that we have to plan for the Full Beaver Moon. How's tomorrow, on my radiators? Cookies, of course, and hot tuna toddies.

Hooray for blues! I'm sure they make Neko AND you feel much better, Wendy! Have a nice evening!

Re: 11/13 Neko AMPS 121 +3.5 262

Yay on the blues. I hope Neko gets back to them quickly. How nice on the lap time.

Re: 11/13 Neko AMPS 121 +3.5 262

Hi Wendy! Hope Neko comes back down for her PMPS - it sounds like she's lovin' the blues. What a difference it makes when they're cruising at a level that works for them! Glad you had a good snuggle-fest earlier. I can totally understand why the cats all gravitate to the warm sun up where you are - mine would be sprouting icicles!

I agree with Ella re. calling the manufacturer - it's sure worth a shot, and what a nice bit of goodwill that would be! Re. cartridges, I never know if I should start a new one early, before the old one's completely caput - if the new one's off I still have some reliable leftovers.

Re: 11/13 Neko AMPS 121 +3.5 262 +9.5 124

+9.5 124
And back full circle to where she started today. :-D Now, will she go up or down for PS? :? Since I have to go out for a couple of hours after, I have my hunches. But that's the nice thing about Levemir, she goes up after PS and onset is at least 4 hours after that.

@Ella - Couldn't hurt to call I guess, should I say it's for my cat? I finally read the info sheet in the package - doesn't say anything about insulin going off.
@Rusty - I'll be there! Fire up the radiator first thing. ~Neko

@Amy - I always have a better evening when Neko's in the blues. :-D

@Nancy - Low blues now, anyone's guess which direction she's going now.

@Carla - My favorite colour is blue. Neko is a long cat, so when she stretches out my lap is cozy warm.

@Suzanne - Lots of grooming just before that last test, I knew she had gone down today. It's the 50's here today, not exactly icicle season yet. I kept using my Lantus cartridges longer and longer. I could usually tell when the numbers were starting to drift up. Back when we were on larger doses, I'd use it to the end. It's a little hard on Lev to know and I'm still gaining experience with them.

Re: 11/13 Neko AMPS 121 +3.5 262 +9.5 124

Hi again, Wendy,
No, don't tell them it's for your cat. They don't need to know that. All they need to know is that you kept the unopened cartridges in the 'fridge and that the 'fridge malfunctioned and the insulin froze. See what they say. I know that unopened cartridges are supposed to be kept refrigerated. It's only after you open one that the manufacturer says you can use it for 42 days and should not refrigerate. This is because people normally have larger doses and cold insulin could be painful to inject.

This is from Novo Nordisk Canada's instruction sheet for the Levemir Penfill cartridges: "Levemir Penfill that is not being used is to be stored in the refrigerator between 2 degrees C - 8 degrees C, not in or too near the freezer section or cooling element. Do not freeze.
Levemir Penfill that is being used or is about to be used is not to be kept in the refrigerator. You can carry it with you and keep it at room temperature (not above 30 degrees C) for up to 6 weeks. . ."

Good luck with contacting Novo Nordisk.

Ah, a lovely inverted cycle...at least it's the Swedish version! Glad to read Neko is feeling better and party planning is taking place for the full Beaver moon!

Oh, Neko - you look so pretty in blue!!!

I'm with you, Wendy, about blue/yellow vs yellow/pink! And, I think the sun is a magnet for most of us. I remember a few winters ago when I was so sick, I'd take my blanket and go sit in the car, enjoying the sun coming through the windows. Guess that's a hillbilly solarium??

Have a great night -

Just checking back. Glad Neko's numbers came down again - blue is muuuuuch better!

Hi Wendy!!
Nice blue for Neko!!!
I wish Lucy or Ginger were a lap cat too.

Sorry about the wonky cartridges.
It's frustrating to have to worry if the insulin is good or not.
My fridge's temp used to fluctuate too much (I have a thermometer that gives the max/min temp of the day), and it got much more stable after I got it fixed (had something to do with auto-defrost function in the freezer compartment), but I used to always worry about my insulin, checking the fridge temp several times a day, which didn't help stabilize the temp.

PMPS 143 +6 113
Looking like one of the best cycles she's had in a while. :-D

@Ella, Anne, Kim, Libby, Suzanne, Mariko - Looks like I might be making a phone call tomorrow regarding insulin. Or is that later today. Gotta love late Lev nadirs.
