Good morning,

Yesterday's condo

11/16 AMPS=131; +2=137; +6.5=144
11/16 PMPS=173; +1=171; +2=139; +7.5=131

11/17 AMPS=149; +2=178; +5.5=214
11/17 PMPS=173; +2=164; +6.5=185

Lucy is doing fine.
She hasn't had bupe since Sunday at 4am, and she ate her 1st breakfast fairly well.
And she was in a good mood all day yesterday.

:?: Ginger not eating - Is this a sign of nausea? :?:
On the other hand, Ginger is not eating well since yesterday.
She didn't want her regular raw meat at all.
She ate about one tablespoon of fancy feast in the morning, and about one and half tablespoon in the evening yesterday.
This morning, she didn't want any of the cat food.... I tried about 4 different cans plus her regular raw.
She came and sniffed at food every time I put something new down, but she walked away.
She eventually ate about a teaspoon of tuna.
She is otherwise affectionate and wanting attention, and now watching birds on the windowsill.
How she seems interested in food but walks away after a sniff - Is this a sign of nausea?

Ginger had had poor appy only on 2 other occasions in the past - once when her eye was painful, and the other time right after the last dental.
There is definitely something wrong with her. She never had any appetite problem, except these obvious 2 times.
I'm going to call the vet as soon as they open.
I can't believe I'm going to the vet again.

Is there some kind of competition going on in the house, who can push the bean over the edge?

Re: 11/17 Lucy AMPS=149 // Ginger poor appy, Nauseated?

Mariko  So sorry to hear Ginger's not eating well for you and you need to go back to the vet...again. Hopefully she is just being a little fussy. Will she eat treats? Sometimes that will kick start them again. Good luck and nice to hear Lucy is doing well. Have a good day Mariko.

Re: 11/17 Lucy AMPS=149;+2=178 // Ginger poor appy, Nauseate

I called the vet office and they squeezed us in for 11 am - 2 hours from now.
I will go to the nearby petfood store to buy some different foods I can try before the appointment.

Re: 11/17 Lucy AMPS=149;+2=178 // Ginger poor appy, Nauseate

Oh Mariko, not the vet's again! They need a frequent visitor's program for you! Maybe it's like sibling rivalry, Ginger and Lucy are both competing for your full attention? I hope it's nothing serious and you can have a few days with TWO hungry, happy cats.

Re: 11/17 Lucy AMPS=149;+2=178 // Ginger poor appy, Nauseate

Sending feel better and eating vines to Ginger, and good vet visit vines to you and Ginger. I hope the vet can give her a little something to settle her tummy or make her feel better, and want to eat when she gets home.

Hi Mariko,
I hope that Ginger will be fine. Sometimes they just don't feel like eating. But your vet will figure it out.

Glad that Ludy is doing well.

Hang in there!

Re: 11/17 Lucy AMPS=149;+2=178 // Ginger: back from vet

Ginger Updates

We are back from the vet.
Ginger was dehydrated and constipated.
So she got the following:

* Sub-q fluids.
* Enema --> Pooped on the way back home.
* Cerenia injection (couldn't tell if nauseated, but got one in case)
* Mirtazapine (The vet thought it was better than cypro for her, and works for me because I don't know if I can pill her.)
* Blood and urine collected for lab (added spec fPL, she's not in pain but the vet said some cats get pancreatitis with no pain.)

We are waiting for the lab results to find the underlying cause of her not eating.
In the meantime, if Ginger doesn't start eating by tomorrow morning, I am to bring her back in for hospitalization (IV fluids).

Re: 11/17 Lucy AMPS=149;+2=178 // Ginger: back from vet

I am so sorry Ginger isn't feeling well and you had yet another vetty visit today. Hopefully Ginger is just still recovering from her dental. I know when my Noah was under the weather a few weeks ago, he did have some ups and downs that warranted extra vetty visits, too, but he finally did get over the hump. Many prayers for that to be Ginger's case, too.

Re: 11/17 Lucy AMPS=149;+2=178;+5.5=214 // Ginger: back from

I'm sorry about Ginger not eating and having to go to the vet. Sending prayers she'll feel like eating now and not have to go back again.

I'm glad Lucy is doing okay without the bupe and was in a good mood yesterday.

Re: 11/17 Lucy PMPS=173 // Ginger eating!

Lucy ate her 1st dinner well.
I sort of lost the will to do my weekend housework from worries after the vet visit, and napped all afternoon on and off with Lucy, which was very nice.
I thought Lucy's BG might be improving yesterday, but it doesn't seem so.
She even got a dash of yellow today, but it might be due to stress from seeing me taking Ginger to the vet.

The good news is, Ginger is eating!
She ate a little bit a while after we got home from the vet, and by dinner time she was asking for food and ate her normal dinner very well.
It might be the appy stimulant talking, but I am extremely relieved. :-D

Re: 11/17 Lucy PMPS=173 // Ginger eating!

Oh Mariko,

How stressful for you~ I am so happy to hear that Ginger is feeling better and has her appy back! Hope she continues to feel good. I am sending "no reason for vetty visit vines" to you!

Re: 11/17 Lucy PMPS=173 // Ginger eating!

We are so glad to read that Ginger is eating. And we agree, if it takes appy stimulant, then that is what it takes. Paws crossed the meds, fluids and "cleanse" will do the trick. There is nothing more stressful than our kitties not eating. :YMHUG:

Mariko, I'm sorry you had to go to the vet again today. I think I would do the same as you and snuggle with the kitties after a day like that. I'm glad Ginger is eating now. Paws crossed Lucy will come down after the stress of the day.

Mariko

I'm sorry I missed this yesterday. I'm glad Lucy is well and had those nice flat blue numbers.

Sending healing vines to Ginger and I hope her tests come back negative. Constipation can cause nausea which, in turn, makes them not want to eat. They told you the mirtazapine can only be given once every three days, right? I've never been able to use it...makes my cats bonkers.

Sending Ginger healing vines!
