Good morning, LL!
Sending vines to all in need, including my Ripples.

Ripley isn't interested in eating this morning.
I managed to get her to eat only about 1T. of food, but then I had to go to work (posting from work, as my computer couldn't connect to the internet this morning). This was after opening several different cans of food, shrimp treat enticements, and some finger-feeding. I left a couple of tablespoons of food out for her on her rocking chair, but the 'hoovers' (drooler and civie) may get to it before Ripley eats it (I put the rest of her breakfast away).

I wrote last night: "We skipped her fluids tonight. She was very unhappy with getting poked.
(She also meowed with her insulin shot tonight. Very unusual.)
I don't feel comfortable with skipping, but after 3 attempts, I just couldn't put her through it again.
She's normally SO easy when it comes to fluids and insulin pokes." She ended up eating most of her dinner last night by +6.

She is still drinking more water than usual, but that may be partially due to the skipped fluid treatment.
She visited the LB this morning and had a normal pee & poo.

She doesn't look well ~ she kept telling me with her eyes that she's not feeling well. Kitten steps... :YMSIGH:
Feel better, sweet girl. ♥♥♥

Re: 12/4 Ripley AMPS 135, poor appy

Oh Josie,

I hope she perks up while you are at work, and you come home to a squawky, hungry Ripley~ I know those ABs can make our babies feel "off" even though they are needed.

Healing and appy vines to Miss Ripples

Re: 12/4 Ripley AMPS 135, poor appy

Poor Ripley ♥
Hopefully she'll be feeling a little better when you get home.
It couldn't have been easy leaving her today
Sending TONS of feel better and appy vines to Miss Rippers ♥♥♥

I am so sorry to hear that Ripley doesn't feel well. Big bunches of healing vines coming her way. Have a great day Josie!

Re: 12/4 Ripley AMPS 135, poor appy

Tons of vines for Ripley and hugs for you, Josie. I agree with Jane: squawky Ripley is the best.

Re: 12/4 Ripley AMPS 135, poor appy

Sending TONS of feel better an appy prayers to sweet little Ripley.... :YMHUG: :YMHUG: :YMHUG:

ETA...do you think it could be the ABs that are making her feel even yuckier? Maybe a shot of penecillin again would help....just a thought...

Re: 12/4 Ripley AMPS 135, poor appy

Hi Josie! Sorry to hear Ripley isn't having a good day. I hope it is just an off day and passes quickly so she'll be back to happy, hungry and squawky.

Re: 12/4 Ripley AMPS 135, poor appy

J.D. often goes off his feed when given ABs. I give him probiotics and appetite stimulants and somehow we get through.
Are you giving any probiotics to Ripley while on the ABs?

Re: 12/4 Ripley AMPS 135, +9 51

Thanks for the visits, vines, and support today.
Although I'm sure Ripley's health will improve, it's such a helpless feeling when we see our furkiddos not feeling well.
Ripley perked up this afternoon when I got home from work, but she hasn't left her rocker (except to use the LB).
Her little body is resting. Healing must be hard work.

Amy: It is quite possible the ABs are making her feel yuck ~ even though she's never shown an adverse reaction before (and this is the second time she's been on this particular AB). I've thought about perhaps getting a penicillin shot ~ it did seem to help last time she was ill ~ maybe kick-started the healing process. My vet said to bring her back in on Fri. if she isn't better...

Dyana: I just started giving a probiotic (Renew Ultimate Critical Care) this morning . And I do have some cypro left from the last time she was sick ~ I may give her a teensy bit tonight. I have to be careful, though, because even a tiny bit makes her 'speedy.' Thank you for sharing how J.D.'s appy reacts to ABs. It truly does help to know.

Also, once she's feeling better, I'm going to look into giving her D-Mannose to help her out...

Re: 12/4 Ripley AMPS 135, +9 51

Piling on more vines for Miss Ripley today. I hope she has appy for dinner tonight and starts getting her sparkle back soon. I've started feeding Pet Naturals of Vermont UT support to my crystals prone civie. They have 50 mg of D-Mannose in each treat. I think Ann(Tess) gives them too.

Re: 12/4 Ripley AMPS 135, +9 51

Those are the same probiotics I used when J.D. had an abcessed canine pulled in January and had to be on strong ABs for two long weeks. He was on Bupe too, which made him constipated, so the FortiFlora wasn't a good option for us.

I hope Ripley is eating better now.

Re: 12/4 Ripley AMPS 135, +9 51

I know that helpless feeling is absolutely horrible. Just remember you've got support and prayers from all over the world behind you!

I do think their little bodies can change with regards to the ABs and such. My civvie Petey never had an issue with clavamox when he was younger, but earlier this year, had one dose for a dental and that was enough to make him stop eating for nearly 24 hours...if he were furless, I swear he would have looked green. Like Ripley last time, they gave him penicillin and it worked like a charm.

I'm glad she's feeling a bit perkier this afternoon...but keep resting and healing, little one!

Re: 12/4 Ripley PMPS 123

Hi Josie,
I'm glad that Ripley was feeling a bit better when you got home this afternoon. How much longer do you have to give the antibiotics? They sure can do a number on cats (and people!). We are sending a beautiful bouquet of healing vines to your girl tonight and prayers that she will feel lots better tomorrow.

Hugs, scritches,

Ella & Rusty

Re: 12/4 Ripley PMPS 123

Thank you ♥Amy♥. I definitely feel the positivity emitting from you and my LL family♥
Thanks for the reminder that kitties like to toss out the 'rules.' Unpredictability can **sometimes** be their charm (other times it's just exasperating ;-) ).

Thanks for the link Wendy♥ ~ I'll definitely look into it...

Ella, she's going to be on ABs for at least another 3 weeks. We really want to knock this infection out of the park. Thanks for the ♥bouquet♥.

Good news: Ripley is eating.

This afternoon I gave her a little pepcid (an hour before dinner) and a tiny speck of cypro (30 mins before dinner). She then vomited a bit of whitish foam, so I don't know how much of either she absorbed.

She is still taking it slowly, snacking off and on. And she has a bit of food on her nose, which I find so charming.
Also, she just stole my spot on the couch when I got up to type this ~ something that's a 'regular behavior" of hers, one that I haven't seen in a few days. :-D

Side note: DH just informed me that Ripley ate some more of her breakfast right after I left for work this morning. He has a theory that she can sense my stress and worry (ya think?). My leaving may have made her feel 'relieved' and less pressure... hmmm. he may be on to something... ;-)

Re: 12/4 Ripley PMPS 123

Great report for the evening!!

I also think your DH is on to something...I see the same thing with my kitties. When one of them is off, I try so hard to hide my stress because I know they feel it and respond to it. Sometimes I do make myself walk away and leave them in DHs hands because he's much more grounded than I am (when it comes to certain things!). Oh, I wish they ("they" being the kitties) could talk to us!!!

Re: 12/4 Ripley PMPS 123

Good girl Ripley! Eat all your fuds up and get all strong again. I miss her squawks, even tho it's you who hears them, I love reading about them. Lots and lots of appy and squawk function vines heading your way!
Try to stress less Josie, I believe you and your DH are right about her sensing your moods and getting a bit worked up over it. You have a very strong bond with her, so it completely makes sense :-D

Awww, I'm sorry to hear Ripley isn't feeling well  . I'm glad you had an easier time on the fluids tonight and she's eating some too! Sending vines and plenty of hugs :YMHUG: :YMHUG:

Glad to read Ripley got her joy juice tonight. We need a bean version of joy juice to reduce our worry!

We have all our paws crossed here she is feeling better soon and happy appy returns. :YMHUG:

Ripleys numbers look good despite her infection. I really wonder if the decreased appetite is due to the a/b. It always happened to Gus and even happens with Tobey. A/bs can just do a number on the appy. Poor baby! I was so happy to read she had gained weight :-D

Sending our Rippo big prayers, love, hugs...she has the bed test mommy ever!
