Last Night:
316 PMPS
280 +3.25
234 +6.75
472 +10.5

I guess he's bouncing from the nice day he had yesterday. I overslept. I woke up at +10.5 all bright eyed and bushy tailed and thought I should just get up but couldn't think of a reason to, so went back to sleep and overslept the alarm by almost an hour. His AMPS was about 25 minutes late.

J.D. ate his 1st Breffis. Ginger has not eaten yet. She went OHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH! like a woman giving birth at +5 last night when I had just fallen asleep. I knew she was going to throw up and rushed her to the sliding glass door, but she threw up all over the welcome mat. And hasn't really eaten since. I hope she is okay. And I hope J.D. eats more today too.

Off to get a shower before my hair freezes on the way to work. It's only 32 out now, so not so bad. Should get snow today.

Send eating vines to my two, please.

Have a good day.

Re: 12/10 J.D. AMPS HI

Come on down JD. Tell Mr Liver to not over react on that pretty day yesterday. Healing vines for Ginger's tummy. Have a great day Dyana!

Re: 12/10 J.D. AMPS HI

I hope J.D. slides down today and continues to eat for you. Poor Ginger. I hope her tummy feels better and she feels like eating.

Re: 12/10 J.D. PMPS 317

J.D. had soft stinky poo as soon as I got home. :-|
I made up some FF with baby food squash and heated it and added a little YAZC and the two cats shared the dish.

Ginger was eating a little bit when I left the house this morning. Most of the left out food was eaten when I returned home from work. I think the diarrhea I got from the litter box this morning was Ginger's. I think the throwing up is J.D. with empty tummy in the morning, and Ginger with hairballs. I think the diarrhea is the change to Friskies, which I don't do slowly, I just sometimes feed them Friskies instead of FF. I don't know.

Keep the feel better vines coming, please.

Re: 12/10 J.D. PMPS 317

He just had diarrhea again
Does anyone know if I can just give them some Flagyl? I think I have some around here from last time.

I have an appointment for tomorrow at 7:00pm at a vet I don't like.
They are the ones where I went to see an IM doc for a 2nd opinion on J.D.'s blood pressure and the doctor had the room crowded with 4 humans besides myself and lectured me about diabetes for over an hour suggesting that he doesn't need insulin and barely talked about BP which is what I was there for. They have an emergency service but it costs $142 and she wouldn't give me any advise over the phone (because it was back in May when we went in for the BP check) and it had "been too long".
The last time he was on Flagyl (metronidazole) was in September when he had a bout of pancreatitis, and we finished the course. The only bottles I have are from 2008 (one of which was prescribed to Ginger but says on the bottle "***FOR J.D. TOO** and I also have one bottle from 2011 from when we were in California. So, they're probably all too old anyway.

J.D. had a plate of bits of steak and Ginger ate some too. Steak usually binds him up, so hopefully, it will help.
I might try to call our regular vet tomorrow, and see if I can get off early enough for a vet visit, or maybe she'll just give me a new prescription to pick up.

I hope the steak helps him. Milk and cheese also help to bind him up, but I don't have any cheese, and I don't want the milk to upset his tummy further.

yikes, things coming from both ends at your place! punkin was given metronidazole a couple of times specifically for diarrhea. the vet told me that it tends to soothe the gut. i don't know about that old, though. definitely not the 2008, but i'm not sure about the 2011. most of the time they say up to one year on ABs.

I hope you have a better experience than you expect with the vet. I'd be really annoyed at the FD lecture, especially when you're not asking for her thoughts on it.

sending feel better and EAT vines to your little ones!

Wow, Dyana! Good luck tomorrow. Maybe J.D. will cure himself and you won't have to go to see the vet you don't like. What about FortiFlora? Isn't that supposed to help with diarrhea as well as with other digestive-tract issues? Gotta get those good bacteria working.

Wishing you a peaceful night with no vomiting and no diarrhea!

Ella & Rusty

Sending tummy vines, appy vines, and good poo vines your way Dyana! Whoosh! You're just getting it from all ends over there  Fingers crossed you can get in to see your regular vet. If not, hopefully this one will focus on the job at hand and not go off on another lecture tangent
Hope your night goes well and kitties start to feel better. Work your magic, steak!

I've been giving him FortiFlora and it doesn't seem to help, just like last time.

I have some of the Ultimate Flora Critical Care left over from his dental in January that I could give him. Do you think that would help? It's been refrigerated this whole time.

another thought - if you have people probiotics, you can try them. sometimes it seemed to me the Fortiflora didn't work -and sometimes i thought it actually gave him diarrhea. I had some "Accuflora" which is a people probiotic, and that helped punkin. I think i gave him 1/4 of a tablet. Sienne has mentioned another people one, but i couldn't find it locally and don't recall the name.

So do you think the Ultimate Flora (which is people probiotic) would help?
I was to give him 1/3 capsule when he was on super strong ABs (Clindamycin) after his dental.

yes, i'd try it. i had very good luck giving punkin the Accuflora.

Let's see, I just grabbed a bottle - it's a blend of Lactobacillus acidophilis Lactobaccilus rhamnosus, Bifidobacterium bifidum, Lactobacillus salivarius, Streptococcus (?) thermophilus. It's in tiny print so I might have something spelled wrong, but you'll probably recognize them. All of those seemed to be ok for punkin.

Okay Julie, now pronounce all that stuff

I'll give him some in about 15 minutes or so, mixed in with some food of some sort. Wish us luck.

the streptococcus one made me shudder a bit - ya mean i've taken that?!?

i didn't put in my contacts today (no work cuz of the snow) and so i'm wearing glasses trying to read that. considering that if i stack a pair of reader glasses on top, maybe i'd be able to see it. reminds me of my dad (who used to swear a lot when i was a kid!) "why do they print this so ** small!?"

Hi Dyana,

Adding more appy/poo/tummy vines for J.D. and Ginger. I hope your regular vet will just let you pick up some Flagyl without an appt. I always give my story of "can't leave work for appt, please can I just try giving the med, if it doesn't work I will make an appt for Friday or Saturday, etc." Our regular vets know we are good customers, and are more likely to do us the favor. Good luck, hope you see a big improvement with the Ultimate Flora!

Well he ate it.

There was no poo in the litter box and none around the house. What if he just pooed diarrhea because he was stressed when he saw me. He pooed diarrhea as soon as I walked in the door to get his shot ready. What if he just doesn't want to go outside for walks in the freezing cold? What if I am to blame for all of his stress? :YMSIGH:

I think my vet might renew the prescription for me. J.D.'s folder is thick.

Oh Dyana, you are not the cause of his stress!! J.D. loves you! He wouldn't be such a good traveler, hang with you at your job, if he was stressed by you! He chills with you

Please feel better J.D. You are really making your momma bean worry~

Paws crossed on the probiotic doing it's thing for JD. I just gave my civvie some 8 month old PedDophilus probiotic a couple weeks ago, and it seemed to do the trick still.

Also sending feel better tummy vines for both your kitties.

Jane said it all! I don't think it could possibly be you!!! and the pic i saw that you posted of him in the snow didn't look like a stressed kitty, it looked like a fascinated, engaged kitty! You are the glue that keeps JD going! He needs you!

fingers crossed that the probiotic helps. :YMHUG:
