I brought Pepper home from the hospital today. They kept him an extra day because his kidney values were elevated. The vet said it might have been because he didn't drink much while he was there - he drank non-stop for an hour after he came home. We are trying a new diuretic to control the fluids - torsemide. He still isn't eating, though.

Nancy, BIG HUG, I'm glad he's home...I'll bet there's a better chance of getting him to eat there.

Thanks for the appy vines. He finally ate a bit. I'm supposed to give him a low sodium diet now. I've been looking through multiple food charts and my head is spinning.

I'm sorry you're having to go through this new learning process. I'm doing the same with possible anemia for J.D.
I know that J.D. sometimes drinks a lot of water when he's low in BGs and I think he feels a need to fill his tummy and drinks instead of eats sometimes. Maybe Pepper's tummy feels full now from all that water. I am sending eat food vines to Pepper and comforting vines to you.

I'm so glad Pepper is home. Sending tons of eating vines over for Pepper. :YMHUG: So many kitties don't eat or drink much away from home. Did the vet have any recommendations on a low sodium diet? I've seen references to low sodium charts on Tanya's site. What a headache having to find good foods for him again.

Scritches to the handsome black cat. He must be SO happy to be home again.

Hi Dyana - I'm sorry to hear you and J.D. may be dealing with anemia. Give some scritches to J.D. for me.

Hi Wendy - the food charts at Tanya's site are some of the ones I've been going through, scribbling down the foods that look suitable on a piece of paper as I go.

Hi Nancy! I hope you can find some fuds that Pepper likes and are good for him. I'm glad he's home with you now :-D
