We're back!

I picked Cinco up at the vet yesterday afternoon, and found that the ultrasound had just been done, so no results before this morning. Cinco was very happy to be home - he wandered around the entire first floor of the house, reacquainting him self with the place, I guess, and expressed a few opinions about his time in lockup. He ate really well, and his numbers were pretty good while he was at the vet's, and they held his dose, which surprised me since in the past they didn't give insulin if he dipped below 160. He hit 39 at one point, and they did not take a reduction. Their record keeping was not very easy to follow, but I think I got it pretty close and posted the numbers they gave me on the SS. At one point, when I called to check on him, I was told the vet instructed the tech to only test him twice a day as they were "sticking him too much"! That would have made me much more uneasy if I had known about the 39 he had at AM+6 on Saturday, but mercifully, I did not. When it came time for his shot last night, we debated about taking the reduction he had earned, and after seeing his PMPS, decided to go ahead and drop him to 2.0. So far, that seems to be the right call. Paws crossed!

I sat down this morning before eating breakfast and started to read condos, catching up on everyone, and before I knew it, I looked at the clock and was horrified to see that Cinco and I were due at the OV in one hour! Mad scramble ensued to scarf down my breakfast, get dressed, grab Cinco and make the 25 minute drive to the OV's office without a ticket! We made it!

The OV said that the inflammation in Cinco's right eye was slightly improved from last Wednesday. The pressure was also reduced, although still a little high. He continues to be concerned about the possibility of a mass behind the eye. The regular vet's office had not yet sent him the x-ray results, nor the ultrasound. His tech was going to call and find out what the hold up is. Someone will call me with the results - either the OV or the regular vet. If I don't hear anything by tomorrow, I will be calling them! Meanwhile, we are sticking with three different eye drops, administered multiple times, and the anti-biotic. I had just stopped adding forti-flora to Cinco's food, but we're starting up again!

He was mighty ticked off in the carrier on the way home - guess he's sick of being hauled around. I am glad he doesn't know he's going to be boarded again this weekend while we take a quick trip to Reno so the DH and his dad can get one last weekend of skiing in! After that, we're home for a while, so things should get back to normal - whatever that is! ;-)

I had to get a rental car yesterday, since the truck is still out of commission - don't know when it will get fixed. At least we are back to two cars and I can come and go as I please. My favorite cousin, who lives about an hour and a half away is going through a rough time - struggling with alcoholism - and I want to try to spend some time with her, but it's tough with all the meds Cinco needs, spread throughout the day. I'd bring her here for a few days, but we are wine lovers and have more than 500 bottles in our collection, so this is not a a good place for her! Please keep her in your prayers - she's got a long road ahead of her.

Sending vines to all in need, especially Trixie, and hugs to all their beans. Special hugs to all who are mourning Barbara. I did not "know" her, but judging by what everyone says, and by the last condo she posted, I really missed out on someone special. :YMHUG: :YMHUG:

Welcome back, Tricia and Cinco!!! Thank you for the extra vines for Trix. We've been sending vines your way while you were gone, too.

I hope you get the test results ASAP. It does sound good that the inflammation and pressure are down. I am sure Cinco is thrilled to know you are home, and he is staying put for a while, too.

Have a great night, Tricia!!

Hi Tricia,
It is good news that the pressure and inflamation are down. I hope that the vets can get their data together so that you will have a better picture of what the problem is.
Sending lots of vines to Cinco.

Yay, I'm happy to see a Cinco condo! I'm glad you are home safe and had a good trip. It's awesome that he is giving you a nice slide today too :-D

Poor guy, I don't blame him for telling you all about his vet boarding  . on the 39! I'm glad he earned a reducie...I hope it goes well and holds! It's awesome news that the inflammation has improved. I don't understand why it takes so stinking long to do the tests and send them, they had him right there! Paws crossed for good news and results sooooon :-D

Oh dear on the weekend...he's going to wonder what on earth is going on with all this travelling :o ;-) . Sorry about the car but at least you have a rental, I'd hate to share mine  . Sorry about your cousin, good vines going her way! Hugs to you and Cinco :YMHUG:

Re: 3/5 Cinco PMPS 200

Thanks for the visits and vines, Amy, Rachel, Carla, and Ella.

No call from the vet, so I'll be calling tomorrow. Nice blue surf today, and I'm liking that the PMPS was so close to the day's numbers. No big jumps. :-D

My civvie, Minka, has runny eyes and I'm trying not to freak out, after all we've been through with Cinco. It seems to be clear liquid, so it may just be her allergies, but this is something new for her, so I'm going to watch it closely. I really don't have time to get her to the vet this week (over an hour each way), so I'm hoping it doesn't get worse. It just started today. I cleaned it with a warm washrag, which she did not appreciate, ungrateful animal!  Paws crossed it goes away on its own before I have to take action.

Re: 3/5 Cinco PMPS 200

Welcome back Tricia. I hope you managed to enjoy your time away, even if Cinco didn't and wants to tell you about it.

Congrats on the reduction - scary on the 2 times a day only testing. I guess you get to tell them next time those two tests MUST be at PS time.

Good news Cinco eye inflammation is improved. My Neko has a slightly drippy eye (sometimes) which was new to her a couple years ago - the vet wasn't concerned as long as it's clear.

Healing vines to your cousin - good of you to help her out.

Hi Wendy: Thank you for telling me about Neko's eye. I have seen several others mention the same thing in their condos lately, but with everything that has happened to Cinco lately, I'm a little jumpy about eyes. My brain tells me to just watch it, but my heart says "Augh! Get her to the vet!". Right now I'm going to try to listen to my brain. At least until something changes or we get back from Reno and I have some time.
