Yesterday's Condo

Decided not to give insulin this morning, and felt even better about that decision when I saw his AMBG - under 300 for the first time in a while. Took him in to the OV at 8:30 (yawn! I am NOT a morning person). We went over things, and the tech told me they will be monitoring his BG throughout the day, and if the OV feels it is too high (over 400), they will give insulin - but a small amount. They will call me when he's out of surgery, probably around 2:30 or 3:00 PST (just when I will be in the dentist's chair, probably  ). I should be able to pick him up around 4:30 or 5:00. Been praying all morning. The worst thing is, it will take 3-4 weeks to get the biopsy results - they send it to an ophthalmologist/pathologist back east, and she said he is very thorough. nailbite_smile nailbite_smile nailbite_smile Don't know how I'm gonna make it through that!

Sasha is still sneezing and her appy is still off, although she is eating some. It seems to get better as the day wears on. I may do another steam session tonight, as that really did seem to help. DH will be leaving while I'm gone at the dentist (I should be walking out the door now). He'll be back Monday night, so I'm BIC for a while. :YMSIGH: NOT looking forward to those early morning shots! Oh well, I will be able to get my workout in early, I guess! ;-)

Sending healing vines to all in need, and hugs to all their beans. :YMHUG:

Re: 3/26 Cinco AMBG 259 Surgery Today

Oh, Tricia, hang in there. :YMHUG: I know how worried you must be. I'm keeping Cinco and Sasha in my thoughts and prayers. I'm also sending a couple out for you (especially since you have to go to the dreaded dentist).

Let us know how it goes!

Re: 3/26 Cinco AMBG 259 Surgery Today

Hi Tricia,
Many prayers and good surgery vines for Cinco today. I hope all will go well. Dental vines for you, and feel-better vines for Sasha. And safe-travel vines for your DH. That's a lot of vines!

Hugs and scritches,

Ella & Rusty

Re: 3/26 Cinco AMBG 259 Surgery Today

Sending tons of good surgery vines your way, for both you and Cinco. :YMHUG: Well hopefully yours is just a regular dental checkup. But it's good of you to share the pain with Cinco today.

The waiting part is absolutely the worst part. At least he should feel better with the mass out.

Good luck with being BIC, morning btb's will be your friend.

Re: 3/26 Cinco AMBG 259 Surgery Today

Been thinking about you guys and sending prayeres all day! I wish the report was quicker, but it is great that they are thorough. We'll be watching for updates!!

Re: 3/26 Cinco AMBG 259 Surgery Today

Oh , today was surgery day. 3-4 weeks yikes. we pray that we will get a good report back for Cinco.

Re: 3/26 Cinco AMBG 259 Surgery Today

The day is coming closer to an end. Soon lil Cinco will be home again. I hope everything went smoothly for both of you.

Re: 3/26 Cinco AMBG 259 Surgery Today

Sending prayers that everything went well with Cinco's surgery today. I hope Sasha is feeling better. :YMHUG: :YMHUG:

Re: 3/26 Cinco AMBG 259 Surgery Today

HI Tricia, I've been thinking of you today but couldn't get back on the boards this afternoon to post  . I hope everything went well today. Many good vines were sent your way for both Cinco and your dentist.

I'm glad you didn't have the worry of no fuds with insulin on top of it. It's too bad it takes so long to get results, I hope that they can tell you something before then :? . I'm also sending appy and feel better vines to poor Sasha. You'll be a great BIC, I've learned to sleep shoot ;-) . Hugs to you! :YMHUG:

Re: 3/26 Cinco AMBG 259 Surgery Today

Many vines for Cinco's recovery and for the results. You will do fine as BIC. We always have a whole 'nuther level of respect for beans who are single beans all the time. More vines for Sasha too.
Liz

Thank you for the kind words, everyone. Sorry I'm so late with an update. This is the first chance I've had to sit down at the computer, and my head is still whirling.

First off, Cinco came through the surgery very well. The OV said that the pressure in his right eye had increased quite a bit since he saw him on the 17th. He said the mass had also grown quite a bit, and when he got it out he said it was bigger than he'd thought. He said it did look like it might be cancerous, but he did not want to speculate on whether or not it is a primary iris cancer (originating within the iris), or a metastatic cancer (spread from elsewhere in the body), if it is indeed cancerous.

Cinco is still pretty disoriented from the medications. Having the e-collar on presents a lot of additional challenges. :dizcat Picture your cat in an e-collar, and then add blindness into the mix. It breaks my heart to watch him stumbling around. I was going to put him in the upstairs bathroom for the first couple of days, but for now decided it was better to leave him in more familiar surroundings. I had to move some furniture so that he can get into his hidey hole, and that has confused him, too. So far he has not wanted water or food. The OV said he might not want water for some time, as they gave him a lot of fluids throughout the day. I am planning to offer him some baby food in a little while, and will continue to offer food every hour or so until he eats. He has not had insulin at all today. The vet tech said his BGs were mostly in the mid 300s, and the last one she took before I got there was around 280 (I don't remember exactly). I just checked him and he was 372. I would really like to get some food into him tonight. If I give him insulin tonight before 10 pm, I can work with that and adjust his shot time back towards his normal 6:30 through the next week, but I'd rather not shoot later than that, as it will take too long to get him back on schedule. I'm playing it by ear. I just don't want to see him go much higher.

Please keep the prayers coming. I am going to fix myself something to eat and open a bottle of wine. I'll post an update later. Thanks again for the support. :YMHUG:

Re: 3/26 Cinco AMBG 259 Surgery Today

I'm relieved to hear Cinco's home with you and did well through the surgery Tricia

I'm sure he's happy to be in familiar surroundings, even with the e-collar

Will continue to pray for good results from the biopsy!

Re: 3/26 Cinco AMBG 259 Surgery Today

I'm glad the surgery went well. I suspect you'll be amaze at just how resilient your kitty is. Sending vines for a good pathology report and speedy recovery.

I am also very glad the surgery went well. I am sending tons of prayers the biopsy will be negative and he will have a quick and full recovery. :YMHUG: :YMHUG: :YMHUG:

Thank you, Chris, Sienne and Marje. Cinco is asleep now. I haven't been able to tempt him to eat, but I haven't offered baby food yet. I will do that a little later - I think he needs sleep right now.

Sasha is definitely better. She ate all her dinner with only one plate chase. I was able to get her AB down her without putting her in the sack, although it wasn't easy.

I'm sorry that Cinco is feeling so disoriented and hope he will feel better soon. It has to be tough with the blindness, but he is such a smart boy he will figure it all out. I'm glad the surgery went well, and hope and pray for a fast (and negative) biopsy result. I hope he will eat soon for you. Many hugs and thoughts being sent your way :YMHUG:

I am glad that the surgery went well and I pray for negative biopsy results for Cinco. You had a stressful day. Cinco is glad to be home I'm sure.

Thanks for the update. Sorry I was able to get to your post earlier, but I was thinking about you during the surgery.

I am praying for the biopsy to be negative, and for Cinco to recovery quickly.

Soft scritches for Cinco and hugs to you.

I'm glad the surgery went well. I hope you get the results back quickly and it's not cancer. Sending prayers for Cinco's recovery and getting used to the e-collar. :YMHUG: :YMHUG:

I'm glad all went well with the procedure, and that Cinco was able to settle down and snooze. I'm sure he will bounce back quickly - how could he not, when he's surrounded by your love?? I hope his appy is back by this morning. Sending tons of prayers for a good pathology report.

And it's wonderful to hear Sasha is feeling better, too!
