Woo hoo, go J.D.! Eating your fuds is a great way to start the day and make your bean happy :-D . I hope he slides down for you, now. Have a good Fursday!

Re: 03/27 J.D. PMPS HI

Thanks.

I came home to: of the 5 bowls of cat food, 3 were licked clean, 1 was almost finished, and the last one was untouched.
Ginger ate the untouched one soon after I gave J.D. his shot.

I gave J.D. a small drop of R. I wish I could get help with his BGs.

We went for a walk, and I checked my mail and got a jury duty notice. Not just a local jury duty, but the state one that is over an hours drive away. I will try my hardest to get out of it. I always fall asleep in courtrooms during jury duty and get dismissed right away. I hope I snore really really loud

My dad called and said that my bouquet of sun flowers was received at the house and that they are real pretty and the note was a good one.

I only took the empty syringe and pressed hard on the plunger and held it while putting the needle in the syringe and then released the plunger. I tested it 3 or 4 times, and got a small drop. Maybe I shouldn't even try R. What would you do?

Re: 03/27 J.D. PMPS HI

when you say you wish you could get help for his BG's, are you meaning you want someone else to suggest dosing help?

i'm happy to give you my 2 cents for free. :-D

one thought is to try Lev - it looks like JD maybe doesn't get as much duration from the Lantus as he needs - he seems to rise pretty high at the end of most cycles. since Lev has longer duration, that in itself might help flatten him out. it might be worth a try.

my other thought is to try using R when the bounce is beginning. it's impossible to do when you're gone til the next shot, but you might be able to make progress with him just by doing it when you are home. For example, on 3/23 at am+9/233 it looks like he's on his way up. He's gone up 150pts in 2 hrs. I wonder if the drop of R at that point would've cut his rise off without causing him to plummet.

Just seems to me that using R when a cat is really high can cause such a large fast drop - it's like they've jumped off a skyscraper - that it often sets up a bounce for the next cycle.

another thought (apparently there are more thoughts in my head than i expected!) is to see about getting the R diluted. You can't do that with the L insulins, but i think i saw something recently that made me wonder if R could be diluted. I have no idea where, though, so can't provide the document. Might be a question for a compounding pharmacy. that might allow you to have more control over his response to it, because he's obviously very sensitive to the R.

I think Julie's advice is worth at LEAST a nickel.  No, I think it's priceless, you can't such excellent advice anywhere else. :-D :-D Yay for a happy appy, that makes everything else easier.

I second the cheer for happy appy! Sorry, I'm no help on JD's numbers. If he was reliable on eating I'd suggest a higher carb food to flatten him out.
Julie - JD is on Lev. He's one of the ones we point to when we tell people that not all cats go flatter on Lev.

Boo on the jury duty - I hope you can get out of it. That's a long way to ask someone to come every day. You'd think there'd be a lot of people living closer.

I'm glad your flowers made it. Sunflowers would make a beautiful bouquet. :YMHUG:

Had you thought about asking Jill or Libby for their thoughts?

FWIW (but I don't have their eyes for SSs), it kind of looks to me like he doesn't get as much duration out of the lev as he should and he's super bouncy. I also think it would help if you shot the R as he starts to zoom and not wait until he is super high.

Thinking of you (((Dyana))).
