4/2 Zener PMPS 168;+3 181

Yesterday's dramatic dive

Zener wasn't satisfied with a nice slide yesterday, he had to dive from red to green. Crazy cat. He's doing so-so this morning, appy is a little better but his butt is still painful. Looks like a bit of a pokey break today. Beans have class in the afternoon so we won't be worrying about our guy. Tillie is doing fine. I was able to do a little get-on-the-floor-for-petting this morning (aka yoga), so she's happy. :lol: :lol: :lol:

We got a little snow last night (not enough to cover the ground) and it's only going to be 44 and windy today, not very springlike.

Thinking of ailing kitties and beans and grieving beans too. Woohoo for Lyresa's DGGD, Laila, who is able to see after her eye surgery last week!!! Congrats to Samantha, OTJ yesterday and paws crossed for Freddie. :mrgreen: :mrgreen: Happy Wednesday, LL!

What the heck Zener? Did you think you weren't keeping the beans on their toes enough without a huge dive yesterday? I hope you do a sliiiide today but it's good you're getting a pokie break and your beans don't have to worry when they go out Thanks for the visit yesterday, guys. I appreciate all the support. It's too cute that Tillie likes her petting...er your yoga time, lol.

Chief Inspector Crapdash spotted some major action from Mr Z while on poo patrol and dashed out for close inspection. Excellent looking poo. It is looking more and more like his anal glands need expressing. Touching his bum to do a little "personal hygiene" is where he is uncomfortable. We are planning to take him to our vet, the captain of Team Zener, during her walk-in hours Friday evening, no point in waiting until our scheduled appointment on Tuesday.

I bet that PMPS yesterday came as quite a surprise! Come on, Zener, if you can't put on the green outfit today, will you at least put on the blue one? Yellow just washes you out!

I hope Zener keeps sliding down slowly so you come home to a nice, safe number. I hope the anal gland expression helps him feel better.

Yay for nice poo and nice numbers today. I hope the appointment on Friday fixes up his sore little tushy...poor guy. Just one thought to consider...since he seems extra sore, do you think his glands could actually be infected and not just in need of expressing? Our civvie, Zen, had an abscessed gland that ruptured a couple years ago...we didn't know it until it actually happened, and at that point, when I went to touch his back end (which always results in "butt elevator up") went "butt elevator down." I immediately knew something was wrong. Fortunately our vetty could see him right away. Until they shaved his butt, we didn't know how bad it really was. He was on two kinds of ABs, bupe, and needed daily betadine washes for a couple weeks. It's just something to keep your eyes peeled for.

Yay for good poo! That's 2 condos where I got to cheer for poo today! :lol: LOVE IT! Only 2 more days til Friday. Probably can't come soon enough for Zener. Have a great night guys!

Thanks Amy, what a good reminder! We remember that story about Zen and that motivated us to get in to our regular vet this Friday. We have an appointment for Tuesday but don't want to wait that long. Zener is very hard to express, so we are very particular about who does it. We are checking his, well, ahem, exit spot, closely for any redness, swelling and other cardinal signs of infection, and things look as always. Boy, oh boy, we do not want ABs or daily washes. He seems to be feeling a bit better tonight, at least in the appy department.

We've talked to our vet about possible removal of his anal sacs because they have a lot of scar tissue and get impacted if we don't get them expressed every 1-2 months now. She is reluctant to do so because it is a delicate surgery that can result in feces incontinence. We tried to go two months between expressions this time, and it may be just too long.
