An unusual cycle for today given me being out of town and Matt not being around for this morning's shot. Cobb seems to be handling everything well. Thankfully we have the R in our toolbox.

I've been gone all day, so nothing really to report. Just wanted to pop in and say hello and Happy Friday!!

Hi Suzanne. It was good you could go and visit with your friend. I'm sure she appreciated your support. Cobb's doing fairly well in spite of the changes. Looks like he might be thinking about some blue in his near future. :-D

He's recovering nicely from the schedule change! go cobb!

Looks like he'll be back in blues/greens in no time. :-D

Looking good Suzanne. Hoping the longer-lasting insulin will help - looks like you're well on your way to regulation!

Does Cobb seem to react any differently to the Lantus than he did the ProZinc? Other high dosers - some, but not all - report their kitties seem to experience a sting from Lantus, due to the pH level (Levemir is pH-neutral) - or they act like they're a little tense. I am only going by heresay, as G switched from ProZinc to Lev.

Wishing you continued good numbers!

Well,it's hard to say for certain. When Cobb was on Prozinc, he wasn't eating a low carb food. The vet had told us we could leave him on dry food. So for 6 months he was not making ANY progress, despite us going up and up in insulin. We originally had the same results with the Lantus until we switched his food. So I can't really definitively say that Prozinc didn't work for him. We were missing a huge piece of the puzzle. But I can tell you 11 units of Prozinc did nothing to combat his carb sensitivity to food.

We have only had a few instances where Cobb has reacted to getting his shot. Is it the sting? Maybe. But he rarely reacts. So either the sting isn't that bad or he is used to it. Usually when he reacts, I notice the needle is bent or something else is going on. I shoot him as he's eating so he's focused on the food, not me. The vet we are now seeing in SC is very happy with his numbers and doesn't want to move him to Lev because she doesn't want to rock the boat. She was initially concerned with his dosage and hypo, but then saw how much we test and was like, yeah, I'm not as concerned with that anymore. Lol.
