Yesterday's Condo
Sorry I haven't done my condo sooner. Race weekend is always crazy, and add Sasha into the mix, and I really haven't been near the computer. We got home from the racetrack about 2.5 hours ago and I've been running around trying to get organized ever since.
After yesterday's shenanigans. We decided to shave a drop off Cinco's dose this morning. I just didn't want him to go low again while we were gone. We'll do it tomorrow, too, but give his regular dose at night. Looks like he was a little better behaved today. I guess I can blame myself - I did threaten a dosecrease! He is still being such a good boy and doing well. YAY - one less worry! (anti-jinx, anti-jinx, anti-jinx)
I am more worried about Sasha falling and hurting herself (ie her incision) than her feeling frustrated and upset about not being able to walk. I know that will come. I'm just so scared that something will cause a setback in the healing. Her balance is not great yet. I do think the back leg issue is adding to her problems. She is a tough little cat, though. I already had the water dish and dry food dish elevated for her in the cage when we set it up - I've gotten a lot of experience with e-collars in the past year or two! I feed her the moist food on her usual plate, but I hold it for her. The soft collar would actually allow her to eat off the plate pretty well, but she seems to like it when I hold it, and I want to do whatever I can to make her happy.
She used the litter box today. I think she is unsure of her balance, so she holds it as long as she can. It's a very low box- actually a cat food case (1 inch sides), with a plastic bag covering it. Once she's more healed and gets good at that, I'll try the lowest regular litter box I have, which is about 2-2.5 inches, but that'll be a while yet.
I heard a crash this morning when I woke up, and jumped up to see her sprawled in the cage with her front leg all the way through the collar!
She must have been trying to get it off and lost her balance. I pushed the leg back through and tightened the collar (again). I was a little concerned because there were tiny drops of blood on the pee pad where she'd been laying. I looked at the incision, and it looked like there was a very little bit of seepage in a couple of spots. Amy (the vet student) did tell me that was normal, so I didn't panic, but I did worry! We decided to go to the track later than normal today - about 2.5-3 hours later, and came home as soon as today's race ended. I just didn't want to be away from her that long, and of course, I worried all day. When we got home tonight, she had the collar completely off and was relaxing on her bed, happy as a clam! I checked the incision and it looked fine, (no new seepage) so I put her tank top on her instead. I think she will be happier in that, and it covers the incision completely. I'll just have to watch to make sure it doesn't impede her walking like the t-shirts did.
Her appetite is excellent, which is one big relief. I added some miralax to her dinner. No one had mentioned it to me. I should have thought if it myself, since bupe is a narcotic. That might explain why she hasn't pooped yet.
Once again, my condo is mostly about Sasha. I'm sorry. It's just that she's taking up so much of my time, energy and thoughts. Again, I'm grateful that Cinco is being so cooperative (anti-jinx) and allowing me to concentrate on Sasha.
I will try to visit a few condos tonight. Tri-tip is on the grill, and I'm supposed to be make peach bellinis right now, so I'd better get busy.
Sending healing vines to all in need, and hugs to all their beans. Once again, THANK YOU for all the support, prayers and vines. You LL sisters and brothers are the best family anywhere! :YMHUG:
