Hello everyone! Happy OTJ Party to Pixie!!!! :-D :-D :-D

Yesterday's condo: viewtopic.php?f=9&t=120879

I'm happy to see the blue AMPS on Billie! We had an eventful morning. I woke up around 5am to a lot of commotion, and found Brooklyn (my civvie) beating a mouse to death while Billie watched her looking a little disturbed. Billie is a pacifist. In one of our old apartments before I had Brooklyn, a mouse showed up, and Billie just stared at it intently while it scooted around. She had plenty of opportunities to go in for the kill, but she didn't want to.

Anyway, I knew that there had to be some kind of critter hanging out under the oven, because both cats have been "on patrol" and glued to the kitchen for the past couple days. There wasn't any bloodshed, so that's good. I disposed of the poor little guy, and Brooklyn looked offended. She probably planned on batting it around a while longer and eventually dropping it in my bed.

I took Brooklyn to the vet this morning to get the lump I noticed yesterday checked out. She was surprisingly well behaved today! The last time she was there, the vet tech started calling her "the calico terror." They shaved her to get a better look at it, then aspirated it and will send it out for analysis. Her vet said it could be inflammation or a tumor of some sort. I kind of think it is the latter, unfortunately. I don't know how she could have injured herself. She doesn't go outside, and while she sometimes tries to play fight with Billie, Billie just growls and runs away (pacifist!) I suppose she could have tried to jump up on something and maybe not quite made it and bumped herself. I won't know until mid week next week. Paws crossed for good news, or at least better than bad news.

Here's Brooklyn!

Re: 6/27 Billie AMPS 188 +3 53

Whoa Billie!! I had to run out around +1.5 and thought I'd be safe leaving Billie until +3 with the AMPS of 188. Maybe I was wrong!! 53 at +3?? She got quite hungry and just ate a lot of food, so hopefully that props her up and she surfs!

Update: looks like all that food made a difference. Phew!

Re: 6/27 Billie AMPS 188 +3 53 +3.5 75 +4.25 76

Billie had a lovely day today, if a bit low at the beginning!  A +1.5 or +2 might have given you a heads up and a chance to give her a little LC to slow the drop.

RIP poor mousie. Zener's civie Tillie also caught a mouse today, must be something in the air.

My civie had a subcutaneous cyst removed this year, I got it done while he was having a dental. They are benign and common enough in older cats. Cute pic of Brooklyn, she's really holding onto that purse.

Re: 6/27 Billie PMPS 263

Nice cycle today, but looks like we've got a little bounce to go with it!

A few winters ago, it was unusually cold here and for the first time ever, we had a few mice stupid enough to move into a house with 3 cats. Between 2-4 in the morning, several mornings in a row, I woke up to this little "squeak" of a mouse.

Picture a mouse, all of 2" long (including tail) with 3 cats (13, 19 and 26lbs) surrounding it. Every once in awhile, one of my "great hunters" would edge forward and THWAP it (no claws, no teeth, although they all have full sets)..TWHAP THWAP THWAP, squeak squeak squeak! TWHAP THWAP THWAP, squeak squeak squeak!

Now I'm not usually the sort to have a lot to do with mice, but the whole scene was so heartbreaking! Poor little mouse being given a concussion by 3 huge feline predators (yeah, right....LOL)

So for several late nights/early mornings in a row, I'd be searching the house for a box or something that I could "herd" the chosen victim into so I could release it from it's torture. If you've never tried to "herd" mice, it's a lot like trying to "herd" cats!

Of course once the chosen mouse was safely in the chosen receptacle, it had to be "snuck" out of the house, since to let the killer cats realize that I was releasing their prize back into the wild would have broken their spirits.

I'm not sure who was more disappointed..the cats at losing their new toy, or the mouse when it found itself out in the cold!

Sure hope you get good news on the lump. They can be so many things, and of course we always think the worst!

Re: 6/27 Billie PMPS 263

Thank you Wendy!! I'm glad your civie's cyst was removed safe and sound. Hopefully, it's something like that for Brookie. She is holding onto my purse! I asked her if she wanted to pay my bills, but she said no. I will have to stop by Zener's condo so Brooklyn and Tillie can share hunting stories!

I have learned my lesson not to skip the +2 anymore! Wow! Today was another day where I had to run out to work around +4.5, and DB came over to check on Billie again because I was nervous after the 53. I am so grateful for his help. He had to leave around +7, and I told him to leave food out, but I'm guessing that may have contributed to her higher PMPS, unless she's bouncing.

I think I need to experiment with taking the food up earlier. I left it out till +10 tonight and last night just because I wasn't home and was paranoid. The two nights before that, I picked it up at +8-9ish, but I'm wondering if +6-7ish might be a better idea. I will try that for the next few cycles. I'm not awake to give a late cycle snack during the PM cycle, and maybe that's why her AMPS numbers have been a lot nicer. At night, they usually get their last serving around +4, and I suspect that it's gone by +6 or +7.

I hope everyone is having a great night!!

Re: 6/27 Billie PMPS 263

Hi Chris!! I must have been writing my post while you sent yours.

    That mouse story is hilarious! Sad for the mouse, of course...but I picture all three cats like thugs surrounding it. That is nice of you to catch the mouse and set him/her free! I would have done the same, but it was definitely too late. Brooklyn works quickly  Thank you for the laugh!!

Re: 6/27 Billie PMPS 263

Great numbers again for Billie! What an adorable pic of Brooklyn- gosh I hope you get some good news about the lump.

Thanks for stopping by Zener's condo and sharing mouse hunting tails, er...tales. Tillies always loves a mention in Z's condo.

 on Billie's +3 this morning.
