Last Night:
568 PMPS (TOR)
452 +1.75
265 +3.5
287 +6.5

J.D. didn't eat that much last night. If I remember right, he ate a little LC FF at PMPS, and then went to bed and stayed there. I did go out for about an hour and a half but he was still in my bedroom when I got home. He was not interested in LC or LC with EVO kibbles on top (maybe it was because I had a (previously refused) crushed up Nutrived mixed in). I gave him his Orbax at +4 and offered him a heaping teaspoon of some MC FF Medleys and he hungrily ate part of it :-| His Bupe was due at +4, but I wasn't sure if I should give it with his acupuncture appointment coming up, so I didn't, and then at +6.5 when he still wouldn't eat food (treats seem to go down fine) I gave him his Bupe and he finished what was left of the 1 teaspoon of MC I gave him earlier.

At +11.25, this morning, I tested, and gave him a double dose of cypro and some onda and his Denamarin. At +11.5 I offered him some food as he was standing out on the deck wondering where Breffis was, and he ate a few bites of that FF Turkey with Cheddar. I decided to give him his shot at +11.75. I added a teaspoon of MC to his plate and he ate some of it.

I gave him some FF Cod, Sole & Shrimp at +0.5 and he ate some of it. I was thinking that that is good for his pancreas to eat little bits... but still, he didn't eat much at all last night.

I just heard him eating and looked to see him standing with his back feet still in his doggy bed and him leaning over to eat some more fishy food.

Hopefully, he'll keep eating well, today. Hopefully, this acupuncture appt. will go well. Fingers Crossed.

Re: 07/05 J.D. AMPS 477

I'm sending tons of great appy vibes your way, and I really hope that J.D. eats more on his own. It really saddens me to see that he's not as well as he needs to be. I've got my fingers crossed that his acupuncture appointment goes well, too. Sending tons of healing vines your way, also. I have tons to give so take what you need, my friend. :YMHUG:

Re: 07/05 J.D. AMPS 477, +2.25 517

Thanks Angela :YMHUG:

I took the kitties for a long walk and J.D. gave me a solid poo.
I think I can finally tell which back leg bothers him most. He more often than not has a longer stride with his left leg and his right is like a half stride. While he was walking I noticed his left back foot was more splayed to the outside than his right. I noticed that he led with his left back leg when going up the stairs. And, this is not normal for him, but now and then he would shake his right back leg as he walked like there was something stuck on his foot and I checked it and there wasn't.

He is eating pretty good so far this morning. Not CPC, but eating a few bites every half hour or so.

Question: His bupe dose is due. I wonder if I should give it before the acupuncture, or not. His appointment is from +4 to +5.

We're off to meet the new vet. Wish us luck.

Re: 07/05 J.D. AMPS 477, +2.25 517, +3.25 472

i would keep giving his bupe on schedule - it might make it more comfortable for him when the acupuncturist is manipulating his body.

good observations on his leg. hopefully the vet acup. will add some attention to his right leg.

fingers crossed that it's all going well this morning! :-D

I hope things went well with the new vetty!!! Did you find the place OK? I know getting into the lot there is a little obscure if you're not familiar with the area.

That was a long one hour vet appointment. I think it was more like two.

The vet gets a thumbs up, for our first appointment.

She had him walking all over the exam room and agreed the right leg is the weakest.

She doesn't seem to agree that he has pancreatitis, but a weakened stomach or GI tract. She said if it was pancreatitis, he would be hospitalized and I said but there is acute and there is cronic. She didn't really respond to that.

We talked about J.D.'s history from birth on, and about eastern medicine. He got needles for liver and kidney and pain and weakness. There was a couch, and we sat on it for what seemed like a very long time, before the doctor came in again to take the needles out. I think both J.D. and I were about to go to sleep waiting on that couch.

She also checked his ear, as his right ear has been giving him problems and has blackish wax in it. She checked the wax under a microscope and it has a yeast bacterial infection, so she asked if I had ever tried Transiderm or something like that, and I said no. When she came back in the office, I said I was afraid of steroids and she said all the ear medicines have steriods and 2 weeks worth shouldn't hurt. We agreed that I would just start up with the Quadritop that J.D. has gotten before, for now.

She gave him 1ml of B12 in the acupuncture points in his back end to round out the appointment, and so he doesn't need me to give him his weekly injection of cyanocobalamin (which I guess is what she gave him) today.

I had the carrier open on the floor, and I told J.D. it was time to go home now, and he got right in it, all by himself.

Upon discharge, I bought a couple of expensive cans of cat food to try, and he got a bottle of some herbs for hind end weakness which he will get BID. Our next appointment is next Saturday.

It is a 25 minute ride in the car. When I took J.D.'s carrier out of the car, and then opened the door for him to walk home, his right back leg seemed worse or very weak, but I guess that is just the treatment.

He drank from his watering can on the deck when he got home and ate some FF Tuna that I spoon fed to him.

At the moment, he has gone into my bedroom to relax.

Hi Dyana,
I'm glad that you were ok with the acupuncture doctor. Hopefully J.D. will be walking better when the initial reaction wears off. It sounds like the vet is flexible and open to your concerns and experience and will not impose treatments or meds on J.D. without your consent.

Ear yer fuds, J.D. ! And feel better and better.

Hugs, scritches,

Ella & Rusty

It sounds like the acupuncture vet is going to be a good vet for J.D. to see. I hope it helps him feel better. Sending good appy vines to J.D.

I'm glad the vetty visit went well! Maybe he just stiffened up a bit on the ride home...that used to happen to Mario after vetty visits, but he would "walk it off" fairly quickly. I hope he's feeling better by now.

I think it is pretty typical for things, at first, to seem a little worse after acupuncture. I noticed it in my cats that got it but then they would improve. I hope it helps JD.

Glad to see his numbers coming down after that visit.

Sounds like a very thorough acupuncture vetty visit. I'm glad JD would walk around for her and she could see what his leg looked like. Neko was a bit tentative at her visit, so I was glad I'd done some videos of her walking at home to show the vetty. Neko has been pretty quiet the first day after her acupuncture and it's been a couple days later that I've really noticed mobility changes.

Sending more appy vines your way.
