Good morning! Fairly low amps today and gave her reg dose 2.75. I am off to work and mom will call with #s later. I will have her test asap in case she decides to drop again like yesterday. Have a great day everyone :smile:

Ok Im nervous!! mom is doing the best she can, and has given h/c gravy and honey at +3 and 20 min later at +3.25. She will be testing in 20 min and repeating. What should I have her do?

Hi Laura,

You want to test every 15-20 minutes and keep feeding some of the gravy until she is over 50. I have the board pulled up on my computer so I'll check back in.

Good catch on your mom's part. I usually add karo to the gravy when I see the 30's, so you mom is doing exactly the right thing.

I told her to keep her eyes on her and test every 20 min. She said so far no change in behavior. Im at work and I can leave if I have to, and seriously thinking about it! Mom is calm..me, not so much!
Edit: Not sure if those times are correct, but I know she is testing every 20 min. She said to call her back around noon. I don't want to interrupt her, so I assume the next test is around 12 EST.

Hi Laura. This must be so hard fir you not being there but your mom us doing everything right. The karo and gravy should kick in soon. Tell her to make sure she has enough blood on the strip. Not too much if course but I've learned if too little it can read too low sometimes.

Thanks Elise for that info! I will let her know, and I have mentioned it in the past, but never hurts to remind. Well, her last test she was 48, and mom is retesting right now. I will update soon, but I am at work, so may not be for a bit! Thanks everyone!

Whew! That 48 is MUCH better. Just a bit higher ChiChi please. I guess she really doesn't like that dose anymore. ;-)

Update..at 12 noon she was 58. Mom hasn't given anything since the 37 at +3.25, and she is due for her reg meal at 12:30 so I said to go ahead and feed at that time. She is gonna test again now and I will update soon.

She was 56 last test at 12:20/+4.25. She got her mid day meal of 1/2 can ff and mom will retest at 1:30/+5.5.

(Tiger had a similar AMPS and situation as you did this morning, I'll post later, I wish I could figure out when the actual nadir is going to be, I know ECID, but it's what makes FD so difficult to predict. Hope you have a great rest of the day with no further drama! :smile: )

She was 51 at 1:30/+5. Mom will retest in 30 min...sheesh! :roll:

Shes came up to 68 at 3pm/+7, and I will be home tonite to update and correct any mistakes in the times of her test. Its a little difficult trying to get the info and post while working. Thankfully it has been pretty quite here at work today so I was able to call home frequently. Thank you all for the advice and comments today. I really am fortunate I have my mom at home to take care of Chi Chi, and whens she goes OTJ, a lot of credit will go to her! :thumbup I always relay the comments to her and she appreciates them very much! your mom is awesome - although i'd think it was harder on you not being home! tell mom she did perfectly on handling everything!

Thanks Julie! Yes it is hard not being there, and I think you said that the last time she dived on mom, that "its because she has her eyes on the cat and you dont" is why I was a wreck and mom was calm! My mind just goes to mush and I put the 911 up even though I have been through this before. It helps alot to just hear the reassurance and comments from others(and thank you all). As for the dose, I know going into the 30s is a definite .25 reduction and thats what she got tonight. I think she will hold it this time, and I am thinking positive now. We are going to get her off the juice!!! Her 6 mo. since dx will be on the 18th, and I have always thought in the back of my mind that by then she will be in remission. Lets see how close she comes to that date. Also, do you have any thoughts on why she has been going low overnight, or low at amps. Do you think that maybe I should reduce the meal sizes from 1 can at amps, 1/2 can at +5 and 1 can at pmps, and maybe give a little late at night to slow her down? What are your thoughts may I ask. I want to ease the load on her pancreas to help her out and I am curious if this might be better. Again, thank you for your input and advice. Oh, Ive just updated her ss and had to correct some times and #s after getting home and rechecking them with mom and the meter! Have a good evening :smile:
