Hi Everyone,

This has been one hectic week of Canoe Outing. Rusty has been by himself for much of the time and he has done great and had good numbers (all greens and blues: I'm in the process of updating his SS). Today is his first beyond-blue number since the fur shot he got on the first day of Canoe Outing. (He's letting down his guard he is so happy to see us "full time".) Every day we've been leaving the house at 6:45 a.m. and returning, tired after a day of leading a paddle, around 8:30 p.m., when we've been vegging out watching the day's recap of the Tour de France and schmoozing with Rusty. I wanted to spend my evening hour or 2 with Rusty, rather than on my computer. I've been rushing home every day to give Rusty his PMPS and evening shot and then heading back to the Outing for the evening meeting/trip descriptions. Lots of driving back and forth to home, driving from the Paul Smiths College campus every day to where our paddle will begin (several trips that we chose to lead were 50 or 60 miles each way to the site of the paddle). So this was an "active" vacation. My schedule was like this:
6 a.m.: arise get dressed.
6:20 a.m. AMPS; get Rusty's breakfast and get his Automat set up for lunch and +9 snack.
6:45 a.m. Drive to Paul Smiths College, where Canoe Outing is based, and have breakfast in the cafeteria, make a bag lunch, and get our stuff ready for the day's paddle (we have a dorm room where we keep all our stuff, but don't stay overnight in because of Rusty).
8 a.m. or thereabouts: get our stuff for the day in the car (canoes are already on top of the car, since we leave them there); check the participants list to see who is coming on our trip; get them all together for a pre-trip head count; drive to the site of the day's paddle.
Rest of the day: PADDLE! We had great paddles and only 1 day of partial rain/ thunder storms
ca. 3 p.m. Return to Paul Smiths; get cleaned up.
4 p.m. Happy Hour
4:45 p.m. Leave Happy Hour early in order to get an early dinner in the cafeteria.
5:20 p.m. Drive home to spend a half hour with Rusty before his PMPS and dinner. (PMPS at 6:25)
6:30 p.m. Drive back to Paul Smiths.
7 p.m. Evening meeting during which the day's trips are reported on and the next day's trips described.
8 p.m. After the meeting we usually head straight home to our kitty.
8:30 p.m. Rusty time. Tour de France recap. Too tired to work on spreadsheets/condo and just want to be with our kitty.
11 p.m. Bedtime test (+4.5)

Our session of Canoe Outing was over yesterday morning, after breakfast, but I help with registration for the second session, so I went back to the Outing in the afternoon. Edward and Rusty had some nice outdoor time together.

Sorry to miss the Board this week and I hope that all is well with you all and with your kitties. I have lots of catching up to do.

bbl,

Ella & Rusty

Re: 7/27 Rusty AMPS 213. Back from Canoe Outing

Life needs to be lived, even w/ an FD kitty! Rusty has been doing fine on his own, but now he must bee so happy to have you all to himself. I know on taking the time for the kitteh rather than the board, been doing that a lot lately myself.

Re: 7/27 Rusty AMPS 213. Back from Canoe Outing

Oh my! No wonder you were so tired, that is one hectic schedule. How sweet of Rusty to keep in the "waters theme" and ride the blues and greens.

We didn't see you or a Rusty condo for a few days, so got worried and were rallying the troops to find you! Since Zener hasn't been doing so well lately, we are in hypervigilant mode.

Whatever will we do in the evenings now after the tour ends today?

Re: 7/27 Rusty AMPS 213. Back from Canoe Outing

Wow what a busy week. I hope you enjoyed it. It sounds like Rusty did fine while you were out. I don't blame you for taking your free time to spend with Rusty. I'm glad to see an update and know everything is going well.

Re: 7/27 Rusty AMPS 213. Back from Canoe Outing

Good to see an update from you. Boy have you been busy although it sounds like a lot of fun.

I'm sure Rusty is going to try to make for all that time missing his cuddles. I liked the canoes/kayaks on the river at the end of yesterday's Tour and the rowers the day before. I'm going to miss Le Tour.

Morning Ella ~O) ~O) ~O) ~O)
Got your covered Auntie Ella! no worries! I will be there every morning, hot delicious Ethiopian ~O) in tow... See you, for sure! ~~ Elsa, kitteh barista

I concur! Life needs to be lived, even with a FD kitty. Rusty did very well, all on his own. I remember days when I'd be gone 12 hours a day for hikes and/or whatever and Mannie did well too. One can have a life. :-D Of curse he did let me know how he felt about being all by himself, even more so if I was late getting home. I am glad too that you chosen to spend your evening hours with Rusty. Time well spent.

Your schedule was indeed a very busy one, wow, and throw paddles into that too. Phew! But I also bet that you enjoyed every minute of it. Enjoy your Sunday!! Relaxation with good weather I hope.

Sometimes it is the little things that keep us stable.

Like seeing a Rusty and Ella condo everyday! I am glad you are living your life! What a fun life too! Good co-operation on your part Rusty! :-D

Oh Ella & Edward - you make me tired just reading your schedule! Vacation? Yeah right! I thought vacation was supposed to be rest.

Sir Rusty - bootiful numbers for a bootiful boy! Sounds like lots of lovin' when they get thru their day tho'.

HUGS! Enjoy!

Re: 7/27 Rusty AMPS 215, +5.5 59. Back from Canoe Outing

Glad to see a Rusty condo again. We've missed you, but I think we all understand the need to do stuff that does not revolve around FD, and to spend whatever other time is available with loved ones, like Rusty!

Sounds exhausting, but if that's what you and Edward enjoy, then good for you for making it work with your FD responsibilities. Obviously, Rusty understands, since he was so cooperative with his BGs. What a good kitty he is!

I hope you get to relax for a while now and wind down. Rusty, you keep it safe tonight, okay? The beans need some down time (and I don't mean down in the deep end of the lagoon)!

Re: 7/27 Rusty AMPS 215, +5.5 59, +9 96, PMPS 143

Hi again,
We all had a good day. Rusty got lots of outdoor time to watch the chipmunks at the bird feeder. Edward and I took a liesurely walk and watched the conclusion of the Tour. The Tour was great! We'll miss it!

Sending deepest sympathy to Rick this evening. Mr. Grey is flying free.

Ella & Rusty

CRAZINESS! Just reading your schedule blows my mind! Glad to hear that Rusty has been the gentleman we all know him to be and he kept him numbers in good standing for you! Rest well, Ella!
