Sorry, I just had no time to make a condo this morning. Right at AMPS time, Ginger brought in a Robin from outside and let it go in my livingroom while spitting our a bunch of feathers. Finding and releasing the Robin and vacumming feathers took all my spare time.

J.D. got 50ml of MaxCal this morning and 20ml of Authority, and two walks. I am going home shortly to check on him and give him Bupe and do a BG test.

I hope everyone is doing well, today.

Oh, J.D. I wish you could slow things down a little. You and Tess should be banned form the trampoline!

What a morning! I hope the robin is OK.

J.D. are you practising for the cliff diving competition? So far, I think you're in gold medal territory. I think you've got it down, so you can stop working on it!

Ginger, congratulations on your catch today, and I understand you want to show Mama how good you are, but don't you think it would be sufficient to just bring her a tail feather? The entire bird is really a bit much.

Your cats are into overdoing it, aren't they, Dyana?

I hope J.D. is feeling well and that his number even out a little for you.

That's quite a drop for J.D. I hope he doesn't bounce back up. Wow on the robin. I think Ginger wanted to add some excitement to your morning.

This article http://feline-nutrition.org/health/feline-inflammatory-bowel-disease-nature-and-treatment talks a lot about feeding a cat appropriate diet, and I am wondering if Ginger is trying to tell me something. She brought that rabbit home, the same day and right after J.D.'s acupuncture vet suggested he get rabbit. She brought some other animal home after that (I can't remember now if it was a bird), and now she brought in the robin.
The article says that boiling up some meat broth with lots of bones can help to improve the gut and intestines.
It makes me want to go get a chicken and cut it up and boil it (for 3 and a half hours). I want to try it. Do you think trying a meat broth would be okay?

J.D. ate pretty good yesterday and not today, so he's only been syringed fed today. When I come home and he laying in his bed looking all sick I wonder if he drinks enough. I wonder if he gets up and drinks. He was acting weak when I got home from work and laying back down again soon after I stood him up. He went to his raised water bowl which he seems to prefer over his pet water fountain now because it's raised (I think), and he didn't drink much. I pulled up on the scruff of his fur on the back of his neck and I just can't tell if he's dehydrated. I give him probiotics with water, so I syringed that with about 5ml of water and then I syringed another 10ml. He has had 20ml of MaxCal so far tonight, and we took a walk, where I got a pee sample. Ketones - Negative. He had perfect poo this morning.

I just want him to feel better.

Re: 08/08 J.D. AMPS 517, +7.5 163, PMPS 334

So, I lied. J.D. just ate a bunch of HC, and then we went for a walk, where I found a dead baby bird at our front step. J.D. ate a few more bites of HC when we got home, and seems to feel much better since getting the water, but what do I know. When we got home from the walk, I picked up the baby bird by the foot and offered it to J.D. but he only sniffed it. I told Ginger to go get some more and off she went. I know, I am so bad.

After we got back, as I said I gave J.D. a couple more bites of HC and then tried to syringe feed him some MaxCal and he did not want it, so I took off his bib and let him up and he jumped off the couch and went right to a cat food bowl that had old uneaten food in it from this morning. I took that away and put down a clean plate, and J.D. waited for me to get a new can of MC and spoon some on it, and he ate a couple bites, and then went back to the bathroom where he likes to lay on the tile using a cat bed as a pillow.

The teeth clacking is grinding on my nerves. When he eats something he likes, he makes this noise that sounds like he is crunching on a bone. I've asked all the vet to check his teeth (and he doesn't have many, and he only has one or maybe two pair that actually match from top to bottom) and then never see anything. I ask them if I should give fluids and they say he doesn't need them. I ask them if I should give him more or less bupe and I never get an answer. Ug. I think I am going to try a little more bupe tonight and this weekend and see how he does. I have been giving him 0.07 and I think I am going to try 0.10ml.

His tummy does feel tight (swollen like) today, and yesterday it felt more squishy and soft. It kind of goes back and forth like that.

He peed again on our second walk, so I guess he is drinking enough.

My Dad just called. He said my Step Mom is in the hospital again. She has been suffering from Pancreatitis.
The day after my Birthday, I called my Dad and said "you forgot my Birthday again" and he said it was because they were busy because Pat had been hospitalized. I said what is wrong with her and he tried to say the syllables but it made no sense. Eventually I found out from her that she had Pancreatitis. That was at the end of July. I just called her and she says she feels terrible and it hurts.

I need to give J.D. another couple of syringes of MaxCal, but I just gave him some Bupe as he is laying kind of all sprawled out on the couch. I chickened out on the 0.10ml and gave him 0.09ml, like that makes a difference.

Off to bed, for us.

Glad to hear that he was eating better tonight. <anti-jinx> Sending more good-eating vines and feel better vines. Sorry to hear about Miss Ginger and the robin this morning, but it is kind of funny that she's trying to tell you something with all of her "gifts" she keeps bringing you. Sending healing vines to your DSM. Give J.D. some scritches from me and hope you get some good sleep tonight, Dyana.

I'm glad he's eating some. I hope he starts to feel better.

I don't think you can boil the chicken with bones and let them eat them the bones. I think they might be too soft and can splinter. I'd do some more research before I do that.

Do not feed cooked bones to cats, only raw bones. But you can cook bones in water and make broth, remove the bones and feed the broth to JD.

ETA: Neko sometimes gets small raw chicken bones, such as neck pieces or the wing tips.

More eating vines for JD and get well vines for your step mom. :YMHUG:

You could certainly give the meat though. I think bones have to go through a grinder.

You're so good with jd and ginger, dyana. It's good that he was willing to eat the hc. Have you tried rotisserie chicken with him? Maybe you could keep some in the freezer for him.

 on your dad missing your birthday. He must be a bit off right now. Sending feel better vines for jd and your stepmom.
