Happy Fursday. Thank you all so very much for your visits and prayers yesterday and all your wonderful support. It helps us immensely. We continue to keep Zener, Trix, JD, Prince, Sabrina, Sasha, Lovey, Tiggy, Pikachu, Elise's Mom, and Molly's Mom and Dad and Mariko and Ginger in our prayers. Congrats to Mottyl and Anna today on a successful OTJ trial. Happy Travels to the Falls, Mottyl!! Cheering Lola and Rocky on their OTJ Trials.

For all the stress of yesterday, Gracie is doing well. She was a little pooped when we got home yesterday afternoon but she perked up and was her sweet, adorable, funny self last night. She was active earlier this morning but has been napping since about +3. I'm keeping a close eye on her. She thinks someone needs to send me the "Dear Mom" letter again    Just as a brief recap, she has cholangitis again so we've started on a course of treatment with a recheck next week. Probably another U/S in a month. Elise, you asked why the doctor mentioned exploratory surgery? Gracie was first dx with this same issue two years ago and the only finding on the u/s was a dilated bile duct...he suggested exploratory surgery. Last year, same thing, same recommendation. I think the reason he is suggesting it is because with a surgical biopsy, they can clearly define the "type" of cholangitis as there are several. Then the treatment would be type appropriate. If her numbers were higher or she wasn't eating, we might go that route. But the last two years, her numbers have come back down with clavamox and supplements. Maybe it will work again, maybe it won't but we hope we will see some improvement within two weeks. If we do, we know we're on the right track. If we don't, we can change the treatment.

She's bouncy on this dose but getting green. She might have a bit of leftover vetty stress so we're just going to let the dose ride a bit. Some of the meds might bring her BG up. We know the slippery elm appears to but it doesn't last. The Vit E "might" although I researched everything and not seeing anything that would raise her BG. But ECID.

BTW....I bought the Mini Funnels from Amazon that I've seen Tricia recommend. Great buy!!! They've been really helpful. Thanks, Tricia!!!

I'm working from home today to finish up what I didn't get to do yesterday due to the three hour vet visit. I should be able to pop in and out and be around this evening. I keep forgetting that I leave Sunday for a conference. I'll get home next Friday. Normally it would be like a mini-vacation for me. I am looking forward to it but hope Mike won't get exhausted from the schedule.

Have a great day.

I'm glad to hear Gracie is doing well today in spite of the stressful day yesterday. Sending more vines and prayers for Gracie, you and Mike. I hope this treatment will see her improving with the next testing showing it. Hope you are able to get some rest, Marje.
Hugs from us.

Re: 8/14 Gracie AMPS 233 +2 243

(((Marje & Gracie))) Sorry to hear the US report wasn't as good as we all hoped-but glad to hear there is a definite treatment plan and follow up. Hope the AB can knock out whatever bacteria is in there. It would be hard not to be Helicopter MOM given this situation! But I know Gracie is a tough, little trooper, and she has smart beans and docs, so I am optimistic! Sending continuing mega tons of healing vines and prayers! :YMHUG: :YMHUG: :YMHUG: :YMHUG:

Hi Marje,

I'm happy to hear Miss Gracie's holding her own & ended up having a happy-cat evening. Sending continued prayers & vines that she will respond AMAZINGLY to the Abs & current treatment & resume her trip back down the insulin ladder. Also that you & Mike can relax.

Re: 8/14 Gracie AMPS 233 +2 243

Rest up, Gracie! Tomorrow is Lupita Friday and you know what you have to do!
~ Rusty

Marje, I think you are very wise not to subject Gracie to exploratory surgery if there are other options. Paws and fingers crossed that the meds will have the desired effect and that Princess Gracie will be feeling great very soon.

Hugs and scritches,

Ella & Rusty

We're stopping in with our prayers and vines too, hope that the meds start to work really quickly, and do the trick.

Hugs,
Kathie

Re: 8/14 Gracie AMPS 233 +2 243

Thanks for the explanation as to why the vet mentioned exploratory. I would do exactly what you decided to do no question about it. Since the meds worked in the past there is no reason to suspect they won't work this time either. Surgery would be a thought for me only if meds didn't work for some reason (not that i have anything to say about it). Too bad this has to happen right when you are going to be out of town. Mike can handle it though.

Re: 8/14 Gracie AMPS 233 +2 243

Sending hugs to you all :YMHUG: And super health vines to Gracie. Hopefully the tx does the trick again, and as mentioned, Missy G is such a tough little trooper and in the best hands possible!
Good news on your Mom going home. Sending vines her way.
I had to laugh about your golf story  Terry figures that would be exactly our luck too!
Get some well deserved rest and tell Gracie to do the same. She needs to be on top of her game for Lupita tomorrow! !

Gracie thanks all her auntie beans for their thoughts and wishes for her. She's been out on the catio....it's cooler tonight.

Day at a time. I do appreciate the agreement on the exploratory surgery. I don't know why vets just want to jump into that. We went that route with a kitty before and it didn't turn out well so we are extremely hesitant.

Psst Gracie, time to come on down slowly overnight. I heard a threat being tossed out!

I'm glad to hear that Gracie is doing well. It sounds like her beans are more stressed than she was about yesterday. :YMHUG:

I hope the conference is someplace interesting.

Hi Marje.

I'm glad to hear that Gracie is doing well. For what it's worth, I agree with your decision to go with the course of treatment that worked in the past before even considering exploratory surgery. You know Gracie so well, and will make the best decisions for her well being.

I'm glad you like those funnels. I bought several different ones until I found those, and they worked best for me.

Sending lots of good vines for Gracie.

About surgery, one vet wanted to send Max fir an exploratory after his ultrasound when he got pancreatitis. The vet she had do it saw all sorts if irregularities. She didn't run the fPL that I asked for either. I went for a second opinion with my original vet. He made me have his radio gist do another US and ran the fPL. and enzyme panel. He was diagnosed with pancreatitis and no surgery. That will be five years ago in December.

I'm glad Geacie continues to feel well and act well too. All good signs.
