Yesterday's Where Have All the Greenies Gone Condo

It's looking like another flat blue day. It could be worse, but I'd sure like to see some lower blues with a few greens mixed in. We beans are never satisfied, are we?! I know there's a member here that gets upset at high greens ! :roll: :lol:

Cinco seems to have had no ill effects from the barf incident yesterday. He ate well the rest of the evening, and although he only ate a small portion of his first breakfast today, he made up for it at +3.5 by demolishing his second breakfast and then cleaning up the remnants of the first. I just think he doesn't like to eat when he first wakes up. I don't blame him. I need a little time to get my act together first in the morning, too! Of course, I don't get insulin first thing, either.

Day three after the chemo, and so far, so good (anti-jinx, anti-jinx, anti-jinx). Sasha ate her breakfast with just one plate chase and a little Forti Flora. Dr. S. replied to my e-mail asking if it was okay to give her L-lysine (I forgot to ask that when I saw her), and she said it was not only okay, but a good idea, since her immune system is being compromised and Cinco has FHV. So I'll be putting it in her next meal and every morning from now on. I don't want to give her anything without checking - don't want to mess with the chemo at all!

I didn't mention it yesterday, but Minka was being Miss Picky about her fuds all day - she came out of it by dinner. I had offered three different flavors to no avail, so I let her go hungry. This reminded me of it:

I really didn't worry about it. I knew she was just being a cat! :roll:

UGH! He did the same thing last night - was higher at +6 than at PS. He came down again by AMPS, so I guess we'll see if he does it again. Maybe I'll get a late test just to see. What the heck is going on???? confused_cat

Glad to hear that Sasha is tolerating the chemo. L lysine is good stuff. Rusty gets it mixed into his food (1/8 of a tsp., at breakfast and at dinner). It is tasteless.

Carla, L-lysine has anti-viral properties. I was giving it to Sasha before chemo, but didn't want to give it during, until I got an okay from her oncologist. Since Cinco has Feline Herpes Virus, I want to try to keep the others safe from it, if possible. I also hope to limit it's activity in Cinco, which is why he gets twice the dose of the other kitties (per his Ophthalmologist's instructions).

Yes, Ella. He certainly is. :roll: I tried to buy Dave's online, but couldn't find a site that carried it that sold single cans. I'm not going to make a special trip in to Sacramento for it, but I'll look the next time I have other reasons for going.

Beans are not satisfied unless all BGs are in normal range and all BGs outside of normal range have an explanation. :lol: :lol: Blue surfs are good. Great news that Sasha is doing well after her chemo.

What a pretty blue cycle for Cinco! :smile: sorry to hear he didn't feel well last night, it sounds like he might be a little constipated, you mentioned passing small chunks and straining? (Geez, is this TMI or what!! ohmygod_smile sorry to be so blunt, but I got worried about him, poor little guy! ) I have long wondered if that causes stomach upset or even nausea in a kitty? Glad for the report on Sasha and Minka as well, sending continued healing and feel well vines for all of you!

Ruth, I don't know why he would be constipated, since he gets a heaping teaspoon of squash baby food every morning! However, I did add 1/8 tsp of Miralax to his dinner last night and will continue to do so. He did this once before - strained so hard to poo that he threw up. If you watch them, the muscles that are working so hard to push the poo out look like the same muscles that go when they're throwing up. I wish I could recover so quickly from an upset tummy! The things we talk about on this board! :roll: :lol:

You should know by now that these kitties do NOT want their beans getting too comfy! Trix is always slow to start with her "first" breffis, too...just another way they like to keep us on our toes!
