Yesterday's Condo

Last Night:
HI PMPS
526 +3
365 +4
241 +6.5

Sorry, I'm so late getting a condo up. We had a lazy day today.

I don't know if I should increase J.D.'s dose or not as he dives so fast down that it makes him bounce (and, I just gave him some R and probably shouldn't have for just that reason), but I gave him an increase this morning, just to try. I'll re-evaluate on Monday. With him not eating on his own, I am totally comfortable with him going to blues only at nadir.

I started giving him canned pumpkin in his syringe feedings last night and I see a slight improvement in his poos.

We went for 3 walks today before it started raining. I have been alternating between watching T.V. and reading some Feline Pancreatitis Support Group emails (which I rarely get a chance to during the week), so mostly the latter.

I have noticed that his body shape seems more normal, in that instead of seeing a diamond shaped cat when I look down on him (little rump, big belly, medium shoulders), I see a more normally shaped cat. When I look at him from the side, I don't see the belly hanging down as much. His belly does still get full and bloated quickly after feeding, but seems to go back to normal faster, lately. I need antijinx on all of the above paragraph.

He goes to his water bowl and drinks half the time and around half the time he hangs his head over the bowl. I read from Tanya's CRF Site that it is often a sign of nausea or excess stomach acid. He is on ondansetron BID and Zantac BID. If he would only eat in the middle of the day and the middle of the night, he would not have an empty tummy for all those hours in between and maybe that would help his tummy. Today, he ate a few tiny bites of MC in the morning, and has eaten a few cat treats and maybe a bite or a lick of LC during the afternoon.

I just gave him some Slippery Elm Bark as normally he gets it at the end of his 3 feedings at night time, and I have heard that it is best given on an empty tummy and his is right now, and I am home to give it.

J.D.'s poos are slightly improved

Pumpkin Question

Dag Nabit. I forgot my question.
Yesterday, I bought a can of pumpkin. I am to give him 1.5 teaspoons BID. It is a big 29 ounce can, so I filled up some ice cube trays and froze it. Does anyone else freeze pumpkin successfully? Also, if I am reading this right, there are 280 calories per can http://www.myfitnesspal.com/food/calories/libbys-100-pure-pumpkin-29-oz-can-91649384. Do any of you mathematically inclined know how many calories that would be per teaspoon?

I freeze Neko's babyfood squash successfully and freeze pumpkin flesh when I grow it (for later use in scones and pies - yumm!).

The pumpkin can says 40 calories per 1/2 cup. There are 8 T or 24 tsp in a half cup, so that would make it a little under 2 calories is a tsp. (40 divided by 24 = 1.67).

Nice blues today JD, let's see more of those tonight.

i had noticed you didn't have a condo yet today - but looked up his ss and there was a bit of pretty blue in there. so i knew he was ok. :-D

sending antijinx vines your way. Sounds like the bloating is a little bit better. cat_pet_icon

at what point did you give him the drop of R today? i don't have his ss open anymore.

Thanks Wendy. I need that information for my calorie counting. Much appreciated.

I saw someone lurking on there, about 30 minutes ago, was that you? I gave him the R at +10.25.

I hope the pumpkin continues to help J.D.'s poo. That is good his stomach seems to be doing better. That's progress.

Hey Dyana,

Just wanted to send hugs to you and J.D. I know you're dealing with a lot right now, and I'm thinking of you and sending lots of vines to J.D. :YMHUG:

probably was me! i was posting to Paula/Michael - she is so worried that Michael is bouncing and I told her how well JD has done, in spite of being bouncy he's lived well for a long time with the FD. I gave her JD's ss to look at. :-D

Nice to see J.D. touch down on the blue floor, however briefly. Yay for more normal poo. I hope the pumpkin gives him consistently better poos.

You certainly deserve to have a lazy day or two, with your crazy schedule!. I, too, had noticed no condo and wondered if all was okay. I'm glad to know it is.

Sending good appy and poo vines! Have a good night, Dyana.

I fell asleep as soon as it got dark outside as it is wonderful sleeping weather, and woke up to this +3.5. Any ideas on how to stop this cliff diving? Feeding him HC or MC when he's in the 500s or 400s seems weird, but I guess that's a thought.
