After that fast dive this morning, I was expecting a much more interesting cycle, but it seems China had other plans and put the brakes on. Don't know if she'll make it to the lagoon today or not considering how quickly she's stopped dropping

Yesterday I asked about what BW you'd want done if you were taking your cat into the vet since I've got China scheduled next week. Marje had said Superchem, CBC and thyroid....plus urine

On the thyroid, I know there are several different tests for it and usually if you ask for a "thyroid test", they just do the basic one that doesn't give all the information, but I can't remember right now what the other, more specific tests are.

Are they T3, T4 and free T ?? Or what??

Re: 9/20 China AMPS 266,+2 166,+3.5 115,+5.5 113 BW ?

The thyroid test that comes with standard geri-panel here is the Total T4. The other tests are more commonly requested if you are concerned about hypothyroid, which is unusual with cats unless they've have prior thyroid treatment or radiation such as SRT. Unless you are suspecting something with China, you could save money by not getting those tests.

Nice low blue surf, and frustratingly close to the lagoon.

Thanks Wendy...No, I don't suspect anything.

I remember (it seems like a lifetime ago) thinking China was probably hyperthyroid which is why I took her to the vet in the first place. She'd lost so much weight

That's when we got the diabetes diagnosis

We've definitely conquered that weight loss problem...I figure I'll be getting a lecture on letting her get a little "too fluffy" when we see the vet

Given that China is 13yo, your vet will probably run a senior panel.n (Cats over the age of 11 are considered "senior." You may not want to share that with China, though.) This is a link to the AAHA recommendations for senior dogs and cats. I don't know that the labs are markedly different than for younger cats. The one thing you may want to ask for is for the vet to get a blood pressure reading. BP is typically taken only for senior kitties.

Nice blues for China today. Maybe you'll see some green tonight.

Hi Chris,
I love the blue surf. :-D

I always get the "senor panel" like Sienne suggested, and it comes with Total T4 .
When we suspected hyper-T with Ginger, the vet added Free T4 (she didn't have it.).

Good luck with the BW.
Sending many positive thoughts for China!

Thanks for the reminder on the BP Sienne!

That's something we've never checked on China but I'm thinking it's time we probably should be

It's also been about 9 months since her dental, so I'm going to have her teeth looked over good too....of course if she needs another one, I don't know how I'll come up with another $500 to do the work

I hate doing another fundraiser but I guess if I have to, I will.....the last one was so successful that I felt truly blessed with such great friends, but I hate to keep asking for help too
