Good Morning, Everyone,

Another cold, damp day, but at least it's not raining (yet!). Maybe we'll be able to get out in our new canoes this afternoon if it warms up a bit (35 degrees now). Rusty had a good night and ate most of his nighttime food. This morning he again refused his lung treat (I may try again later; I thought that after several months without it he would like it again, but I guess I was wrong). He wasn't too keen to start in on his breakfast (in mid morning), either, but when I held it under his nose for a minute he discovered he was hungry and began to eat. It had the L lysine in it, as usual. I'm going to taste the L lysine powder to see if it really is tasteless. I suppose it is possible for a cat to develop an aversion to something that is tasteless, but Rusty has had L lysine in his food twice a day ever since he came to live with us and it hasn't seemed to have any effect on his appetite (he has always been a grazer).
In any event, I am going to make a vetty appointment for next week to get him checked out, discuss his weight loss with the vet, and have all the tests run. It will be 6 months since his last check-up.

Off to the post office before the rain begins. bbl,

Ella & Rusty

Morning Ella ~O) ~O) ~O)

Swimming in the grotto today Rusty? I hope you will pay a visit to the lagoon too.

I wish you luck with the Lysine. One would think that after all this time he wouldn't mind having it there. I used to be able to get away with adding meds to the food all the time with Mannie. Then one day he said no more, in his own fashion. He always was a food eater, but I can still remember they day he started eating all the food except for the portion that had the med, or the pill or whatever in it. He just knew and he'd leave that portion. darn cat! It is probably good to have him checked out at the vet, make sure there isn't something else going on.

Have a great day today, enjoy the walk to the post office. I will hope the temps warm some so you can try out those new canoes!

Re: 10/27 Rusty AMPS 170

The Lagoon beckons, Rusty, it will be nice and warm there, unlike your current weather. :-x Hope you can get out in the canoes today, Ella. Stay cozy!
Liz

Re: 10/27 Rusty AMPS 170

I hope the weather warms up enough for you to get out. Frustrating when you have been waiting for the new boats for so long.

Nice slide to the Lagoon today Rusty, you need to keep an eye on things there! Well, eating is more important than the supplements. WE've cut out a lot of Tess, although I still try to sneak some of them in.

I was just shopping online for Dave"s cat food. The nearest place that has it is down in LA. Chewy.com has a really good price and they still have the 95% Chicken if you are up for a whole case. Of course now that I've ordered it Tess will snub it.

Re: 10/27 Rusty AMPS 170

Nice start today, Rusty. Hope you find all in order at the lagoon. Cinco is sitting at the edge of the water, just enjoying the sounds and smells.

Too bad it's raining again. I hope it clears up for you this afternoon.

This may be a dumb question, but have you tried a different flavor of baby food for the lung treat? Just a thought.

All my kitties get the l-lysine in their food, and they all eat it without issue. Minka is very picky about supplements in her food, and this is the only one I can get past her. I don't think it has a taste or smell.

Sending good weather vines!

Re: 10/27 Rusty AMPS 170, +5.7 83

Hi guys,
Thanks for the tips. I use the chicken or turkey babyfood. He liked the Allerplex mixed into either of them. I have plenty of Dave's 95% chicken on hand, thanks to Zener's bequest and to Anne & Liz for thinking of Rusty. But I do intend to try some of the other poultry flavors when we visit Whiskers on E. 9th St. in NYC next month. (Rusty is allergic to beef and fish).

The LagoonMeister is on duty. He ate most of his lunch (Wellness Chicken) already, and just left a little to graze on.

The beans decided to wait until tomorrow to try out the boats. It is too cold and nasty today, even though it isn't really raining. Tomorrow is expected to be significantly warmer.

Re: 10/27 Rusty AMPS 170, +5.7 83

I do think sometimes supplements can do something-or-other to the taste of food, even when they are supposed to be tasteless. With Trix, she gets the phos binder in her food. Sometimes she's fussy about it, though...and if I get her an "untainted" serving from the same can of food, she'll gobble it up! So the binder must do something to the flavor, and for whatever reason, some days she notices it more than others.

Rusty is looking awesome in green...have a great afternoon, Ella!

Rusty, good to see you in the Lagoon. You're mighty fetching in green, yiou know.

35...degrees! Brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr, from this desert rat. 'Course when it drops that cold here (Dec./Jan. maybe) I do get a heap o'cats on the bed.

Thoughts for warm weather and some canoeing tomorrow.

It's nice to see Rusty in the lagoon today. I hope things go well at the vetty visit next week. Hopefully the weather will cooperate and you can try out your new canoes tomorrow.

Hi again,

Rusty ate well today. He's waiting on the couch for us to show up for his dinner and show: tonight it's "Gallipoli" on Netflix.

We had 20 minutes of sunshine in the late afternoon!!!!! It was amazing to see the sun. Hopefully the rain predicted for tomorrow will be only showers. We will be going out in our new canoes regardless, since the temperature is supposed to get up to near 60. That will be something! (Snow and highs in the low 30s are predicted for the end of the week, so we really must get out in our boats while the getting is good.)

bbl,

Ella & Rusty

What a nice slide for Rusty today- glad to hear he's eating better, but I know you will feel better after a vet visit in case there's something else going on. You must be really hardcore (like Wendy  ) When it's 35 degrees, rowing or canoing is not one of the things first and foremost on my mind  Hope you do get out to try the new canoes soon though! RE:the snubbed supplements, I don't have proof, but I swear with Tiger, if I keep pushing her to eat something, she will clamp her mouth shut and no matter what I do, she won't open up! And then it becomes an aversion...

I'm glad you got a peep of sunshine today! We did too, and it was quite a surprise. I had forgotten what the sun looked like. I hope all is well with Rusty!

Billie has made some weird decisions about her food in the past - she used to love Weruva, then one day, for some reason, it was no good and she quit eating it. I think they can taste lots of subtleties.

I hope you have a nice night! Stay warm!

I'm glad Rusty's got the lagoon under control tonight.

Bummer on the Allerplex. When Neko was off her food a while ago she wouldn't eat the part of her food with the glucosamine supplement that she's otherwise been eating for over two years. Have you ever tried Rusty with ham babyfood? Sometimes a change makes things interesting. Good luck on the vetty visit. I hope it's nothing and just seasonal.

Paws crossed for good canoeing weather tomorrow. I always get warm rowing and imagine you must in the canoe too, but it is much more pleasant in the 60's than 30's. However, I think it's time for boots for the beach launch. Water is getting just a touch cool for sandals.

 I haven't worn my sandals for a month! I have neoprene knee-high boots. Nice and warm and pretty lightweight.

Gallipoli was depressing. Rusty didn't like it, didn't finish his dinner, and went into his basket. He may be bouncing, or not!

Thanks for visiting,

ni ni
